Tucked away in the outskirts of the Jordaan, one could quite easily walk past this restaurant with its unpretentious exterior and be totally unaware as to its existence; That would be a pity because Lucky House is a true gem. Step inside and this family run operation is a hive of activity. Although it is possible to sit down and have a meal, the majority of the clientele come for takeaway meals for which this establishment has a deservedly excellent reputation. There is a good size open plan kitchen where you can observe your orders being prepared for you. Read moreWe used to love Lucky House Amsterdam, especially the duck with bami, which was always a favorite. However, over the past few months, the quality has gone downhill dramatically.
Firstly, we’ve noticed unpleasant surprises in our meals—stray hairs and other materials that absolutely should not be in food. This has happened multiple times now, which is unacceptable.
Secondly, the duck, which was once flavorful and delicious, is now drowned in an absurd amount of oil. It’s not only disgusting but also makes us question the quality of the oil used—it tastes like cheap, overused cooking oil.
And to top it all off, after tonight’s meal, I’m feeling physically sick. This was the last straw, and we will never order from here again. It’s a shame to see such a once-loved dish ruined like this.
