Orontes De Pijp offers an exceptional experience of Turkish cuisine that truly impresses from start to finish. As someone familiar with the richness and tradition of Turkish food, I knew the real test of a restaurant like this would be in the quality of their meat—and Orontes De Pijp exceeded all expectations.
The mixed grill, a hallmark of any Turkish dining experience, was a standout dish. The meat was perfectly cooked: tender, juicy, and packed with flavor that highlighted the mastery of their chefs. Every bite of lamb, chicken, and beef was full of rich, authentic taste, and it was clear that careful attention had gone into marinating and grilling the meats to perfection. The balance of spices was impeccable, enhancing the natural flavors without overwhelming them.
Beyond the food, the service was warm and attentive, delivered by a staff that clearly takes pride in their craft. The passion for food and hospitality was evident in every aspect of the meal. Whether you're a seasoned lover of Turkish cuisine or new to it, Orontes De Pijp is an unforgettable experience that transports you straight to the heart of Turkey through its remarkable dishes and genuine service. A must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic flavors and...
Read moreAs a Turkish root people.”, sometimes we are missing our own food culture in Amsterdam. Thanks to Orontes, whenever we need to remind ourselves our food culture we could definitely visit there again. We visited Orontes on 17th of August and ordered 4 mezza and one main dish and one desert. There are plenty of options for mezza both cold and warn and also vegetarian options. We ordered babagannus, humus, mushrooms and oruk. Oruk is the best one and the others are above average taste. Portions are enough for two. For the main dish, we ordered mixed grill that consists of Lamb Shish, adana and chicken grill. Overall all are delicious and good but I must say the adana is not like a original adana that we ate in Turkey but for Amsterdam it would definitely enough. And lastly we ordered Kunefe without ice cream and tea. This was also considered well except the syrup did not contain more sugar. In the original recipe it should contain more sugar in the syrup but it was less here. As a beverage, we chose raki and salgam which are original Turkish product so no problem at all. Overall service was great, prices are reasonable and taste is also great, I would...
Read moreVery authentic Turkish restaurant - endorsed by my Turkish boyfriend! The restaurant is small and cozy, with big crowds on weekend evenings. They have a big variety of mezzes (Turkish name of side dishes or appetizers). Most of them are worth a try! For main dish we ordered mixed grill. There were 3 kinds of kebab, my favorite is shish kebab - quite a lot of spices (cumin especially) which give the lamb a very special and strong taste. With all main dishes you always get salad, bulgur and tzatziki (but Turkish version, with much thicker yogurt). For dessert many people know the famous baklava. But you HAVE TO try kunefe which is my favorite Turkish dessert so far. It’s also made of a LOT of sugar. But it has a secret ingredient: cheese, which makes it very unique from other dessert. It’s almost like you are eating a sweet and pastry version of pizza (see my last pic). All in all, very nice and fairly priced place to go. I recommend to go in a group so that you can order many different mezzes and try a bit...
