Monte Verde — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I visited this restaurant during a visit to Amsterdam, accompanied by my brother. While we arrived admittedly 35 or so minutes earlier thn the appointed time, the staff was very understanding and accommodating.

The appetizer we ordered, the Foccacia, was delicious, with or without the herb butter that was provided.

We both ordered a pizza, one with salami for me. While it tasted great on its own, and heavenly when herbs and garlic oil were applied, I do find the crust a bit on the thin side. Though that is a relatively minor gripe.

Monte Verde – Authentiek Italiaans, tot aan je voordeur Mijn absolute favoriet? De Tortellini Panna e Prosciutto — altijd precies al dente, met vers gesneden ingrediënten die puurheid ademen. Elke hap brengt je even naar Italië, zó smaakvol en verfijnd.

Wat deze plek extra bijzonder maakt: ik laat meestal bezorgen, en Monte Verde regelt dat zelf. Geen tussenpersonen, geen gedoe — alleen excellente service en warme maaltijden die aankomen zoals bedoeld.

Italian cuisine is based on simple but good-quality ingredients, which this restaurant definitely lacks. Literally, everything we ordered had no taste (the minestrone soup tasted like water with vegetables, and the pasta had plain cream instead of real gorgonzola). The service was very scatterbrained. We had to ask twice for the ordered dishes because the waiter had forgotten about them. I have no idea where these high reviews of this place come from, I will definitely not be...
