From a regular customer, a detailed review which also is an honest opinion.
Ambience: a big improvement from their previous layout, the seating spaces & standing tables while waiting are a perfect use of the space available. The aesthetic has also improved which is a plus.
Drinks: great to see that they stay consistent with doing one type of product and doing it well.
Having sampled almost all the drinks, the best one has to be the matcha with cream cheese. Maybe the essence of the drink would be better preserved with more matcha and cream cheese than milk/ice. The drink without ice and sealed is infinitely better (also great for those with teeth sensitivity apart from being easier to shake due to being sealed) makes for a better experience since it can be shaken to combine the cheese with the matcha. Boba is always the right choice for the drinks, the other jellies turn out too sweet or overpowering, while Boba keeps the flavour of the original drink while adding a new texture.
Though the brown sugar tea tastes authentic at first, there is something added to the brown sugar itself that does not taste natural. Simplicity is key, if the brown sugar mix was made in house, adding milk to it would keep the taste intact and true.
Great selection of seasonal specials (red bean Boba!), wish they would add more with more non sugar heavy ingredients. Fruit based tea drinks with Boba (like mandarin, passionfruit or watermelon) would be something lovers of fresh fruit drinks would happily pay for. Also miss a roasted almond Boba and black sesame Boba.
The taro bubble tea tends to taste grainy when not mixed well, this is a minor issue and easily fixed.
The fruit teas like mango cream, the cream ratio to mango/ice should be half-half for the perfect taste.
Another great feature is the sugar options. No sugar, half or (highly not recommended) 200%, great for customising taste so that the actual taste of the drinks are not overpowered. Matcha for example is supposed to taste slightly bitter, not taken over by sugar.
Since the drinks are already at a medium to high price point, it would be beneficial to offer dairy free milk without the extra cost, either to all drinks or to the large drinks. This is also environmentally friendlier, given that at least soy milk is comparable to or sometimes even less than the price of regular milk.
Speaking of environmentally friendly, a big let down has always been usage of plastic. Given the advancement of technology and creation of biodegradable plastic that only disintegrates in warm water, and given that none of the drinks offered are warm, this could be a nice solution. Alternatively, anything other than plastic for the cups would be great. Pre-shaking the drinks on request would also be an option.
They have a stamp card which allows you to get a free small drink on completion. This does not differentiate between small and large cup orders, it would be a handy addition. They also have the reusable cups on offer. A solution could be to offer either a drink or a reusable cup after a full stamp card. Maybe for people who order larger drinks.
The tteokbokki, nothing to say, the only food item on the menu and delivers on taste. Absolutely delicious. Would increase the portion size a bit though.
Service, again nothing to say, great personnel, whenever there is something amiss with the drinks they take great care to replace it. They are friendly and even in busy times the service is relatively quick.
Hopefully this review helps Tea Guys in some way, keeping the overall product consistently good as they are already...
Read moreI found Tea Guys during the pandemic 2020. At that time bubble tea shops was still not really common in NL. I know bubble tea already for ages as I am from Indonesia. Unfortunately didn’t have it in NL for so long time. Then came one quite famous chain brand in 2018/2019, but taste just so-so in my opinion. So I never really enjoyed bubble tea anymore
Then I went to Tea Guys for the first time in summer 2020. I ordered my classic favorite bubble tea: brown sugar bubble tea; with oat milk! AND, it was a love at the first sip! I came back again a couple of days later! (If I live nearby I will certainly come back the next day). At that time, Tea Guys was the best bubble tea place for me. I got hooked with Tea Guys. If it’s not because my personal policy, I would absolutely buy Tea Guys everyday!
Fast forward 2021, there came many new bubble tea places in NL. I was obsessed to try most of them. I found my new nice places. But honestly, my preference is still TEA GUYS! I even made a blind test to compare Tea Guys with my other favorite bubble tea place in Amsterdam Zuid. And I know which one was Tea Guys! I also did blind test comparison of Tea Guys with the other competitor in the neighborhood. And again, I knew which one was Tea Guys!!!
For Amsterdam, I will always go to Tea Guys for my bubble tea. Though it’s not that close from my house. I will buy 2 or 3 so I can have it at home later. Sometimes I would Uber Eats it too. Thou it’s much pricier 🙈. But that’s because I love Tea Guys that much. Even now I got even more pickier. I don’t go to other places anymore for my bubble tea. So for me, Tea Guys is still the best bubble tea in the Netherlands. Well I also went to NYC in September 2021 and tried the famous chain from Taiwan, but still I think Tea Guys made it better.
Also I introduced an Indonesia friend lives in Germany when she visited Amsterdam. She loves bubble tea; and she approved Tea Guys too.
My faves are brown sugar, houjicha, and matcha. Just started to order different taste; the strawberry cream, and I screaaamed: “why on earth I never ordered this?!”. So gewd!!!! But d’oghI never ordered cause I always confused which one to order between those three fave flavors 🙈. As my strict personal policy only allow me to drink one every week 😫.
So if you are new in Amsterdam and don’t have much time to explore the bubble tea galore, I absolutely recommend just go straight...

This place is hands down the best bubble tea spot I’ve ever been to! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is modern yet cozy, making it the perfect place to relax, catch up with friends, or even get some work done.
Now, let’s talk about the drinks—WOW. The menu offers an amazing variety of flavors, from classic milk teas to unique fruit blends you won’t find anywhere else. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients, and the tapioca pearls are cooked to perfection—soft, chewy, and just the right level of sweetness. I tried the brown sugar boba and the mango passionfruit tea, and both were out of this world!
Service was just as impressive. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend drinks based on my preferences. They even let me customize my drink exactly how I like it, which was a huge plus.
Whether you’re a bubble tea lover or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit. The flavors, the ambiance, and the service all come together for an unforgettable experience. I’ll definitely be coming back—probably...
