Menu is not large; so should be able to expect a lot of the dishes they do have. And true, most of the dishes were perfect on taste. Some others had combination which, in my opinion, don't add anything; but at least the components are good. Our server was very nice, quick and clear; also great. Negative: the portions are really small; also for the inexpensive ingredients (like the Pimientos de Padrón). While the dishes were small, they were still rather price. You can count on 40-50 eur per person on food alone before you are full; pre-desert. Better you know before going there. Real let of was that at 18:00 they tell you: you have the table until 20:00. As we were rather hungry and had to order more food (because the first batch was surprisingly not enough); we were told that there would not be enough time for desert anymore. Maybe this is fashion and the times we are living in; but if I want to dine with friends (and keep on ordering and keep the bill running), I don't want to be reminded that I...

Hey... psst... yes... you... don't tell anyone but this is the best kept secret in Amsterdam. This place is seriously amazing. The chef is of Michelin star quality without any of the pretenses. Substance over style with lasersharp focus on flavours. Bold combinations that surprise and even more surprisingly are perfectly balanced. I'm convinced this guy must see flavours in his head the way beethoven saw music in his head without being able to hear it. The owners have an exceptional talent for picking and pairing wines an have created a wonderful relaxed and welcoming experience. Atmosphere is unpretentious, jeans and flip-flops, no one takes your coat at the entrance. This place is about food, food and nothing else (well except wine). So go there and enjoy and tell only your very best foody friends. Otherwise, let's keep this as Amsterdam's best kept secret - this message will self-destruct in 5 minutes...

Went back again....

It was our first time here today. We went at 5pm, sat outside. Then it started raining so we wanted to go inside. Inside the whole restaurant (and by whole I mean WHOLE) was empty. Zero seats taken. Despite that, we were told that we can only either sit at this one ugly table or at the bar because every table was reserved. And mind you, there were at least 5-6 tables for 2 people available but somehow all of the tables for 2 we asked for were "reserved" besides the one they allowed us to sit.. Yet when you go to make a reservation online for 2 people you don't get to choose a "specific" table.. How come???

And as suspected, by the time we were leaving at 5:45pm ALL OF THE TABLES WE ASKED FOR WERE EMPTY STILL (In fact there were only 3 tables taken in total inside). And I asked to find out that they were reserved for 6:30 and 8... So put simply they could've sat us at a nice table and choose not to do so for no...

Spanish restaurant with a modern aesthetic and simple menu with very few but very enticing choices. The Patatas Bravas were enjoyable and the El Toro (oxtail burger) was juicy and very tender. I do have to say the burger came in a fairly small portion and was only accompanied by a couple vegetables. The highlight though was the Monkfish Huancaina with its spongy texture accompanied by rich fruit and crunchy corn. The Monkfish sauce was succulent and divine. The dessert was a Mató y Pera which is a pear pastry with mató cheese mousse and again a savory and well executed dish between the crisp of the pear and the softness of the cheese.

Great service and very good atmosphere. The seabass ceviche and scallop tiradito were awesome and highly recommended. The croquettes were very crunchy but unfortunately very salty and not exactly a stand-out dish. The omelette deluxe with eel and fig wasa bit dry and lacked flavor, not something I would order again, either. For dessert the crema Catalana and pumpkin goodies were both very good, however, the pumpkin pieces could be cooked a bit longer so that they are softer and not still "crunchy". Wine menu with a good variety. All in all I would return to try the other dishes on the menu.
