Pinocchio Cafe-Restaurant — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately I was highly disappointed. While there was a lot of hype surrounding the food, it did not live up to my expectations. The service was also incredibly disappointing, and definitely detracted from my dining experience.

I ordered the famous chicken and waffles, but unfortunately they forgot to bring me the chicken. This left me with just the waffles, which I did not enjoy without any toppings or additional items. Despite attempting to get the server's attention twice, I was unsuccessful in getting the chicken I had ordered. When they finally brought it to me, it was only after I had asked for the check.

The service was overall quite poor, with the server failing to apologize for the mistake and showing little interest in ensuring that my experience was a good one. Additionally, there was no alcohol available to order as they were restocking their supply. This was quite disappointing as I was hoping to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with my meal.

Furthermore, there was a waiter who spilled something on the floor, and unfortunately, nobody took the time to clean it up during my entire visit. Additionally, the table next to mine was not cleaned before they sat someone down at it - this made me concerned about the cleanliness of the restaurant in general.

All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was not great, and the service was poor, making for an unpleasant...

The food was fine, but the service was absolutely awful. We arrived and were seated quickly, but weren't given menus for 20 minutes after being seated. After this, we waited 30 more minutes for our order to be taken. Our starters arrived quickly(10 mins) so I can't complain much there, but after this we waited another 35 minutes in a slowly emptying restaurant for someone to take our plates. Eventually one of the serving staff did come - and rather than produce our main courses asked us if we wanted any dessert or coffee! The answer to which was that no, we'd like our main courses please. These eventually arrived 15 minutes later. Our drinks order was also forgotten in this time period and we had to ask for them again when the main course arrived. As an aside, the carbonara was listed as containing egg and guanciale and did not mention cream. I am not convinced I actually had guanciale, it seemed to just be normal ham and definitely seemed to contain cream to produce the amount and texture of 'sauce' on my plate. Maybe my views are coloured by the terrible service though.

We had a wonderful experience at Pinocchio Amsterdam on April 17th around 12:30 PM! We are two Canadians, one of us visiting Amsterdam for the very first time, and this lunch truly set the tone for a beautiful day in the city.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely young woman who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We were waiting to check into our Airbnb, and she kindly offered to keep our luggage safe while we explored the area — such a thoughtful and generous gesture!

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was a delight. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal.

But what truly made our experience exceptional was the outstanding service. The young woman who received us was not only kind and helpful but also extremely professional. Her attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference.
