Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel in Amsterdam with my business partners, and it was truly an extraordinary fine dining experience that exceeded all expectations. From the impeccable service to the exquisite flavors and carefully selected wine pairings, every aspect of our evening was meticulously crafted to create a memorable culinary journey.

The restaurant offers a unique dining concept with a set menu that takes you on a gastronomic adventure. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and artfully presented, showcasing the culinary mastery of the chef. From the moment we took our first bite of the asparagus soup, we knew we were in for a treat. The delicate flavors and velvety texture of the soup set the stage for what was to come—a symphony of flavors that unfolded with each subsequent course.

Accompanying each dish was a fantastic wine pairing, carefully chosen to enhance the flavors and elevate the dining experience. What truly impressed us was the owner's ability to share the story behind each wine and winery. Their passion and knowledge shone through as they provided a brief narrative, adding an extra layer of depth to our meal. It was a delightful blend of culinary artistry and oenological exploration.

The menu at De Utrechtsedwarstafel showcased a diverse range of flavors and textures, ensuring there was something to please every palate. From the succulent fish to the perfectly cooked beef, each dish was a harmonious combination of ingredients and techniques. The attention to detail and the use of premium ingredients were evident in every bite, leaving us in awe of the chef's skill and creativity.

One of the standout moments of the evening was the dessert—a delicious finale that perfectly captured the essence of indulgence. Whether it was a decadent chocolate creation or a refreshing fruit medley, the desserts at De Utrechtsedwarstafel were the epitome of culinary artistry, providing a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our meal.

The "slow food" concept embraced by the restaurant truly allowed us to unwind and savor each moment. We were encouraged to sit back, relax, and let the owner and their team take care of everything. The wait time between dishes was perfectly paced, allowing us to appreciate each course and engage in conversation without feeling rushed. It's an experience that encourages you to disconnect from the outside world and fully immerse yourself in the joy of fine dining.

For those planning to visit, it's important to allocate at least two hours for the entire dining experience. This will give you ample time to relish every course, savor the wine pairings, and truly appreciate the meticulous attention to detail that goes into each aspect of your meal.

In conclusion, Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel in Amsterdam offers an extraordinary fine dining experience that delights all the senses. With its set menu, exceptional wine pairings, and impeccable service, it delivers a culinary journey that is truly unparalleled. The "slow food" concept allows you to relax and enjoy every moment, while the owner's passion and knowledge add an extra layer of enchantment to the experience. If you're seeking an unforgettable gastronomic adventure, make sure to visit Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel and prepare to be captivated by their...

I have had the privilege of eating at fine dining establishments around the world, and my experience at De Utrechtsedwar has to be the most bizarre. It is a small intimate space and I was excited to get a last minute table through my hotel given the online reviews. From the moment the dinner started things felt chaotic. The owner spent the evening running around doing everything, from seating tables to taking orders. One table was disappointed that they weren't given a different table and the owner angrily informed them that he was too busy to take calls and specific requests because he does everything from clean the toilets to ordering the wine. This attitude remained for the entire meal The biggest issue with the dinner was that it took 45minutes between the first and second course. I understand things happen in the kitchen but he did not communicate anything with the tables, offer more wine (or even water), or really do anything to let us know what was going on. Many tables became agitated. I was concerned that every course would take this long. When I asked if there was an issue the owner became very irate with me. He told me his never had anyone complain and I needed to be patient. I didn't realize being yelled at was on the menu. I sat down at 530 and asked if I would be able to be done by 830. I thought it was reasonable to assume a 5 course dinner would not take more than 3 hours. He then came BACK to my table to yell at me again. He told me I should be thankful I was given a spot and in his 25 years no-one has ever complained. Well, in my 10+ years of eating at Michelin Star restaurants I have never been treated so poorly or seen such a disorganized restaurant. If you are going to charge 300 euros per person you can afford an extra staff member to help carry the load. Why is there only one person in the kitchen, one person serving, and one person pouring water? The old adage is "the customer is always right", not "treat the customer like a toddler". In fairness after I was scolded for wondering if every course would have a 45min break the remaining courses did come out at a reasonable pace. If he had just apologized and moved on (instead of the hostility) I would have given this place 3.5 stars out of 5 (the food was meh and the "super" wine pairings were incredibly overpriced. Honestly, this was the worst experience and I cannot believe I paid 300 euros for such a disappointing experience. Other tables also complained and I hope they also write a review. This owners needs to attend an anger management seminar and perhaps hire at least ONE more staff person. Given what they charge I think they...

When we arrived, we realised that it was a fine dining restaurant and as this was a company trip it was out of our budget. We asked if we can avoid having the 5-course meal and go with something lighter. The owner told us that this was not an option and that we had to have the full 5-course. When we asked to leave, we were lied to by being told that someone else called to book our table and because it was reserved for us it was not made possible so we had to pay for that. Note that reservations can only be made online and not by phone. The owner then told us that we had to pay 20€ per person just because we booked the table. His attitude and overall behaviour was awfull and rude and even though we didn't want to create a scene (being in a foreign country) he raised his tone of voice making other tables turn to us. We ended up paying 80€ for nothing. Not even a glass of water. We asked for a receipt and he gave us a hand written note with his signatute. It was an overall bad experience and wouldn't recommend it. If you are proud of having a fine dining restaurant with a great chef as we were told, you should definetely take notice of the overall customer experience and your behaviour towards your customers. It was an honest mistake on our side and we apologised for it but on the other hand he was plain rude and was trying to put some money into his pocket. Note that there was no cancellation policy online. So it would have been ok if we didn't show up or just called to cancel. It was the worst experience in Amsterdam. Don't visit the place if you are looking to have...

What a wonderful birthday meal I enjoyed here earlier this week. The ambiance is perfect and the service was totally on point. Hans, our host, was superb in his delivery of excellent wines and his knowledge and passion was evident. This is a restaurant who is very proud of the things they serve, and they should be. A particular highlight was the langoustine miso broth as an appetiser - what an amazing start to the meal. Bread and water were replenished almost without us noticing. This is a classic restaurant of quality and good taste. It is unpretentious and unapologetically traditional. We had the five courses together with the flight of level two wines, and an additional champagne to start. Whilst I had a couple of minor niggles with one or two elements of the later courses, the whole thing was lovely. I have just one reservation, and that was the dessert. With a bill coming in just over €300 including wine (quite an expensive restaurant comparatively), I really feel for the money the chef could have rustled up something more imaginative than a meringue basket with fruit. A dessert should be a glorious crown, completing such an excellent menu, but sadly on this occasion it was not to be. This was the kind of dessert my Mum might throw together mid-week as an emergency standby. Disappointing. However, I wouldn’t be put off coming again, it must be said. Hans and his team made us very welcome and we had a memorable evening, the wine being the absolute highlight.

The slightly worn, cluttered setting when you walk in belies the elevated dinner experience that lies ahead. Although the ingredients are simple, the flavors and presentation are captivating. There are five courses (€95pp) with the option of a good or exceptional wine pairing at higher rates. We opted for a nonalcoholic dinner, but friends who have visited highly recommend the wine pairing. Note that it's important to make a reservation in advance and even more important to confirm it when the owner reaches out via email, lest your reservation gets canceled. Which would be a real shame. The pork cheek was absolutely delicious, the cod melts in your mouth like a warm hug, and the nectarine iced dessert was hands down the best dessert we've had in a long time. As for what can be improved, the first course of brined tuna was only good, not great. The various elements in the dish didn't love each other, the union more closely resembled an arranged marriage. However, the one thing I'd really change is the bread; no butter on Earth can improve the experience of crunching on a rock hard dinner roll. Those minor points aside, we had a delightful dinner and left more than satisfied. My partner loved how intimate the atmosphere felt. It's like you're in someone's home, and they're taking good care of you with the freshest ingredients. Their dog, meandering around without a care in the world, adds to the cosiness.
