A Taste of Turkish Delight in the Heart of Amsterdam: Restaurant Olijfje is a hidden gem that offers an authentic and unforgettable Turkish dining experience. From the moment you step through the door, you're enveloped in warm hospitality that makes you feel like an honored guest in a Turkish home. The service at Olijfje is truly exceptional. Now, let's talk about the food - it's simply outstanding! Olijfje offers a perfect representation of Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine, with dishes that are both authentic and beautifully presented. The menu is a journey of succulent kebabs to delicate mezes and tapas. I particularly enjoyed the mixed grill which was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite. The homemade CERKEZ TAVUGU is addictively good, and don't even get me started on their baklava - it's easily the best I've had outside of Turkey. The attention to detail extends to the restaurant's ambiance as well. The decor is tasteful and reminiscent of a cozy Turkish eatery. Whether you're a Turkish cuisine aficionado or a curious first-timer, Restaurant Olijfje is a must-visit. Read moreFirst of all this restaurant is overbooking. Get ready to be waiting and stand still for a long time. When we(2pp) arrived, at least 4 tables were waiting to be seated. They are sending some customers to a restaurant on the corner!?! People had to accept this fait accompli not to suffer more on the line. While waiting to be seated, we talked to the owner (Can), showing the empty 2-unit 2-person tables. Our frustration for waiting so long (even though we had a reservation) made Mr.Can even more angry. While showing us the way to the table, he said: "If we feel disappointed about the situation, we can leave the restaurant now.". We ignored him in order to not ruin our weekend. The food was served fast, and the waiters were friendly. However, when the owner came back and asked if everything was alright. We mentioned the little incident we had while being seated. And after that, he got mad while apologizing impolitely and insincerely. We were not satisfied with his sincerity; then he asked us to leave the restaurant three times if don't accept his apologies!?! He might have consumed some alcohol or he has a physical problem. Since I read many reviews, the man cannot take criticism even though what he has done. He also said he doesn’t want Turkish customers like us and he prefers tourists more. He was ready to pick a fight in front of his customer if we did not walk softly. We left the food and the drinks unfinished and headed to Ali Kebap. Never again...
Read moredo not go if you don’t eat meat. so we have a lot of complaints to be honest. first of all, my family of 4 asked to be seated on the seat with the sofa table and the manager informed us that the two sofa tables were reserved for a group of 8. which we were okay with, until we saw about 15 minutes later that the same manager ushered in a group of 3 girls into those same sofa seats who insisted on sitting there, and then 10 minutes later another group of 4 to the second sofa table. we were lied to. second of all, the food was really only describable with one word, mid. very average, the breads we got were stale and not warm, and felt like they just cut up the first loaf they found in the supermarket. whereas in other mediterranean places we have been to they were fresh tasting, warm, even a little crispy. the hummus was not fresh, tasty, or smooth. the falafel were small and dense and again tasted store bought, the cheese item on the menu was outright disappointing in taste and presentation. the filo cheese rolls were raw and chewy on the inside and burnt on the edges, and also tasted bad. i understand that if you eat meat, perhaps this place would still be enjoyable. but if you don’t, i don’t recommend coming. in general, the food was not special at all, felt store-bought, and average at best. the atmosphere and decoration however, was quite nice. this however, does not make it...
