Stayed here recently based on all the good reviews it had been getting !! But unfortunately worst experience ever! Staff were rude & we were kept waiting on a service on varies occasions. We arrived late at night (hotel was aware on our arrival) we were kept waiting at reception for quite some time before been acknowledged , after check-in the man (night porter) walked away while we wanted to buy some snacks that had been on display at the reception, as we had been travelling all day! he kept us waiting yet again so we just left them & went on to find the room, already annoyed at our wait at reception on arrival !

The only staff I can say were any bit normal were the breakfast staff who were very helpful & smiley ! After we arrived well into the night we barley slept & were up early to grab some breakfast given that we couldn’t get food at reception a few hours prior!! we left the room for a half hour just enough time to have a coffee & a bite , when we went back to our room the cleaning staff were inside, completely ignored our “do not disturb”sign that we hung outside the door, our bad had barley been slept in & we had no time to unpack yet the cleaners were having a full blown conversation amongst our stuff & unpacked suitcases while we stood at the door & yet again WAITED to enter our room! There was no cleaning for them to be doing! They were rude & played stupid when we mentioned our room doesn’t need a clean , our towels were not used & our bed was barley slept in there was nothing to clean !

Then the little Man running round in the suit (the manager) spoke to his staff terribly & was rude & obnoxious, you could clearly see he made other staff feel uncomfortable by they way he spoke to them! we are both fluent In a handful of languages & the cleaning staff & the man in the suit along with a woman working at reception spoke about us horribly right in-front of us! I was very embarrassed on their behalf! We actually cut our stay short here , I would never in a million years return to a place that speaks about their guests right infront of them! I work in hotel hospitality myself & I was absolutely Gauged by the behaviour of the staff here !! not for one second did it dawn on the little man that we understand EVERYTHING I quote “These %#^*ing Irish people “ throwing his hands upto heaven ! I felt he was very intimidating and stared at me a lot (which another quest also pointed out to me) when I was sat in the lobby which made me feel very uncomfortable. We were horrified that this place could be so disgusting & disrespectful! We spoke to other guests in the lobby briefly & they had a similar experience here where they were kept waiting ALOT & where the cleaners came into their room when they also had the sign hanging on...

The hotel was okay, but we had one cleanliness issue and one service issue that were very disappointing. The cleanliness issue is probably more relevant to other travellers, but the service issue was more significant to us as it resulted in the loss of mementos that had sentimental value and can't be replaced.

The cleanliness issue: We stayed for three nights. The first night, we noticed that there were food crumbs all over the armchair (not from us). Tried to brush it off and discovered there were tons more under the pillow. (The photo is from after I had already removed the large pieces and the crisp packet that had been shoved down the side.) No big deal, we just mentioned it to the front desk the next morning and asked them to make sure housekeeping knew so they could clean it. That night, the room had been cleaned but the food debris was still there. We mentioned it again on the next morning, exact same conversation and same result - that night it was still there. On the last morning, as we were checking out, we mentioned it again and the desk clerk asked "Since you're leaving, do you still want it cleaned?" I pointed out that, even though we were leaving, the next guests in the room would probably like a clean chair to use. They went and got the manager, who checked the room himself, said he was disappointed and very sorry, and that was it..

The service issue: As we were checking out, I asked where we could find a mail/post box to send some postcards home before we left Amsterdam. We had the cards written up and all with appropriate international stamps. The manager insisted that they would take care of it. I said I would rather do it myself, but he insisted that he felt terrible about the cleanliness issue and the least he could do was ensure personally that our postcards were mailed and we didn't have to go out of our way. I should never have trusted this, because it's now several months later and not one of the 7 postcards ever arrived. (These included ones that we always write home to ourselves instead of buying memorabilia, one to my daughter's school for a project gathering letters from around the world, etc. It was very sad and honestly, for us, the fact that they didn't even bother mailing our postcards was far worse than having a...

My family and I booked this hotel through Expedia several months ago and were looking forward to our trip in Amsterdam given the rave reviews this hotel had on numerous websites. Unfortunately, what we thought we were getting ourselves into was far from reality of this hotel. When reading reviews, we saw that the hotel offered a welcome drink. When we checked in, we were advised that the room we booked wasn't available and they "upgraded" us to a different room. At the time of checking in, we also were a bit surprised not to be offered a welcome drink and to be rushed through the process (despite every other guest around us having a drink in hand). We shook it off and went up to our room... not only was the "upgraded" room smaller than the room we had booked, but it was dirty. We found an open tea bag in the room, there were stains on the towels, and stains on the bedsheets. Additionally, the "canal view" wasn't much of a view at all, but rather a disappointing snapshot of a downtrodden area of the canal. For the price we had paid, we were disappointed and shocked by the "downgrade" we had received (the room was about 25 square feet smaller than the one we booked and the beds were American twin, at best). Given the circumstances, I contacted Expedia who intervened on our behalf and helped us find a new hotel which was much more up to par with what we had expected. Suffice to say, this was a disappointing experience and we absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Our hope is that you do not get misled by the rave reviews on various travel websites and consider choosing different accomodations....

I enjoyed my stay very much. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return here again on my next trip to Amsterdam. Very beautiful, clean room. I chose a canal view, which was very nice. The room was luminous, with a comfortable bed and a nice powerful jet in the shower. Housekeeping could be a bit better. Some days my sheets weren't changed, the bed was simply made, as well as food and trash sometimes not being thrown out. Sadly, the mattress was actually two single beds put together with a cover over the gap, under the sheets, and not a queen mattress. Which wasn't nice, as over the night both mattresses would spread out a bit and widen the gap. Easy check in and check out. Very efficient and kind staff. Was served welcome drinks. I was given a free room upgrade. Kindly took my 3 suitcases in before check in and after check out, giving us more time to walk around the city without having to worry about them. Kindly took in my postcards to post them, as I couldn't. Sadly construction was going on at the time of my stay. Loud banging and noise starting 10am, which is an acceptable time to start construction at, as long as you weren't planning on sleeping in. Very nice lobby, loved the style of it. Conveniently located. Had a supermarket very close by, which came in handy. Did not have to use transportation at all. Food service is expensive, and so is its charge (5€), but it is tasty. I had requested a surprise for my boyfriend's birthday, which they kindly obliged, leaving a small bottle of wine, some stroopwaffles and balloons in the room for us. Thank you for the very nice stay!

Exceptional Stay at Amsterdam's Hidden Gem I recently stayed at Monet Garden Hotel in Amsterdam that felt like a five-star experience in every way. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the friendliest staff who made me feel right at home especially Victoria. Despite my initial surprise at being assigned a room in the basement, I was soon delighted to discover that it was unlike any basement room I've ever seen. Located right by the river, it felt as though I was on a boat, with a beautiful view of boats passing by just outside my window-one photo attached. The hospitality at this hotel is truly remarkable. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly friendly and full of great advice. Before arrival, I received a warm welcome letter packed with options for local tours. Even when one of the tours didn’t go as planned, the staff promptly offered to contact the operator for more information. The welcome amenities were a lovely touch – I was treated to a delicious chocolate bar in the room and two bottles of cold water in the fridge and a complimentary drink from the bar. And the breakfast? Simply amazing. The variety and quality of options available were impressive, and everything was absolutely delicious. They also give you advices for all restaurants, and ice cream places thanks to Victoria and Margaretta. In every aspect, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to return and experience this cozy, riverfront haven again. In my eyes, it deserves not just five stars, but five stars plus!
