Truly, truly, heartbreaking. Some people complained that it "wasn't in the city center" or that it was "ugly" or that there was "too much traffic." These are all pedantic complaints. It's very easy to find, and it isn't supposed to be gorgeous. It is VERY striking, VERY somber, and requires one to be slow and pensive while honoring the millions of those brutally murdered. This is an Amsterdam must-see.

As for the horrible beta questions below, this is NOT a park, NOT a playground, and truly not a place to drag a dog, nor have a fun family...

We stumbled across this national monument as we were leaving the museum.

It's a moving tribute to those who lost their lives to the Holocuast.

You can't not feel moved and a sadness descends upon you as you read the names of those lives lost... many of them young children.

The mirrors above reflect the bricks below and the surroundings. We were advised by kur canal captain the next day that this is a very Important monument to the...

Impressive. Very simple and engaging. Walk atriums the brick walls and read the name, birthdate and age of death. It was designed by the famous architect Daniel Libeskind. The shape of the walls are Hebrew letters that spell ‘in memory of.’ I’ll bet it’s beautiful at night all lit up. There is very little information available on site, but they do have QR codes to scan to view info. I wish there was some free wifi available to...

Stunning and halting - this monument is impressive and provides a unique layout that has you lost in the magnitude of the many people lost to this tragedy. The modern QR code system to find any name you are looking for is a very nice touch. A tasteful tribute
