Worst Starbucks I've been to, the lobby always looks messy, but that's not the big problem. The problem is the unwilling staff. Situation: I come, ask for a venti cold brew latte with full fat milk and a bit less milk and a bit more cold brew. The cashier tells me she can't sell me that (I guess she can't charge me for extra cold brew in the system) and tells me she can sell me cold brew (the difference is - cold brew has more cold brew + has water, cold brew latte has no water, has milk and less cold brew). I tell her I don't want water in there, I want cold brew latte, just a bit stronger. She somehow puts it on the cup and in the kassa, I hand her my full loyalty card. I get asked to pay 1 cent for the cup..? I mean I don't care about 1 cent, but it's wierd, + noone ever made me pay one cent 🤦🏾♂️ Anyway, I continue to the handoff, the girl on bar starts making my drink, measures the cold brew (I was very happy with the amount) and starts putting in water. I stop her immediately (I saw my cup was next in line) and tell her it's without water. The barista proceeds to throw away the cold brew with a dash of water (which I would've been ok with) before I get to tell her she doesn't have to throw it out. Then she makes the drink again, but forgets it's with full fat milk (instead of semi skimmed). At that point, I didn't know if I should feel sorry for her or myself, I accepted that I won't get the drink I wanted, I took what was given and left. Never through my visit did I hear the words hello, sorry, thank you, goodbye... I have similar experiences with some of my other visits, with people not smiling, not being friendly and not getting the...
Read moreProbably the Starbucks with the nicest views. Located inside the Centraal Station facing the water front, there is plenty of seating for those looking to get a drink and wait for their train or bus.
Staff speaks both Dutch and English. Unfortunately you can't use the US Starbucks app here (shouldn't the app be universal? I wish!) Not being able to use the app is annoying as Starbucks doesn't put their full menu on the menu board so you're not sure what you can order. For example, there is no iced coffee, only iced Americanos and iced lattes.
Their refrigerated case was out of of stuff all 3 times I went here. As far as food, they have some unique to Netherlands items such as cheesecake (oddly, the slice with strawberry topping is slightly cheaper than the plain one.)
It does get extremely busy due to the location but overall they move fairly quickly. Staff was perfect and the only drawbacks are due to Starbucks corporate decisions that make it difficult to order without the app.
Also, because it's the Netherlands, there is no plastic and the paper cups aren't waxed - you need to drink your drink quickly because the cup itself starts to feel like it's getting waterlogged and...
Read moreI don't think I ever had a good customer-service related experience here. Staff is often very pre-occupied, and have a rude way of dealing with customers. My last visit was the last one, though. The way the cashier both encountered me and the guest ahead of me was astonoshing, making fun of accents when speaking english, repeatingly stating she can't understand neither of the english-speaking geusts (she would be the first one I encountered who does not understand my english). And apparently, if you don't want your pastries in a paper--bag, if you want to sit down, you have to state so before you order. They do not need to ask, she brutally informed me, and I should have known better and stated so beforehand.
Good location, at central stataion (no need to scan OV to enter) Slow service Rude staff (most...
