This Loetje is in front of the main train station. Steps to go down to the entrance (or they have an elevator). We walked in on a Sat evening at 5pm with no reservation and luckily got a table in the back. Should have made a reservation and maybe we can sit closer to the windows (amazing views). Our server was very friendly and professional. We ordered 2 teas, one chamomile and one ginger (fresh slices of ginger with honey). She gave us ample time to look through the menu. We ordered 2 tenderloin with garlic. 2 side orders of mushrooms and one garden salad (it's big enough to share). The entree also came with white bread. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much and when they came with our entree, I kind of thinking why white bread. Well, the steak was perfectly done (med rare) could be more tender but really good with the garlic sauce. The bread (omg) was so good. The crust was crispy and the bread part was like cotton candy. And we used them to soak up all the garlic sauce. Very delicious and we added the mushroom to the sauce to give it a smoky touch. Everything blended perfectly together. We actually ate the salad last which was a nice cleansing feel. We didn't order dessert because we were so full...maybe next time.

Mixed Experiences at Loetje Amsterdam: I recently had the opportunity to dine at Loetje in Amsterdam, and my experiences were quite mixed. Let’s start with the positives: The food was absolutely outstanding. I ordered a steak that was cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor. The side dishes were also delicious and complemented the main course beautifully. It is clear that a lot of attention is paid to the quality of the ingredients and the preparation of the food. Unfortunately, the positive dining experience was somewhat marred by the service. The staff was not very friendly and seemed rather disinterested in the guests. There was a lack of attention and warmth that one would expect in a restaurant of this price range. This unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth and affected the overall impression. In summary, Loetje in Amsterdam is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for outstanding food. However, one should not have too high expectations when it comes to the service. I hope the restaurant can make improvements in this area to provide a fully satisfactory experience.

I would like to start off that my fiancé is from The Netherlands and speaks Dutch, so it wasn’t a language issue. I am writing the review in English as it will be readable by more people. If I was the owner of this establishment I would be re-training or re-hiring my waiting staff. My fiancé and I came here with the plan to have a couple cocktails and a bottle of two of wine with dinner. We got here at 4:30pm the front desk host let us know it would be 10 mins or so till we were seated (no problems here they were getting ready for dinner service). We were sat and ordered our first round of cocktails and water. This is when the service started to go downhill, cocktails come in a bout 5 mins (not bad) our bottle of water 10 mins later (weird) we then ordered an appetizer the waitress seemed upset that we weren’t ordering mains (we let her know we wanted to order appetizers first then we would order food) when the food was brought out no plates were brought out. We had to flag down the staff after 5 mins of waiting. When we could finally ask it seemed like a pain to bring us plates. The table beside us ordered champagne the waiter dropped off the bottle didn’t open it and practically ran away as they look at him in surprise and tried to flag him down. After waiting for a few mins for them to come back they decided to open it themselves (pop hits the roof and then my fiancé) honestly completely un-acceptable. The table then had to get up and ask for ice (they were also Dutch) waiter came back and gave them ice in cups!! Okay… or appetizer and drinks sat empty for for 25 mins waitress walked past multiple times looked at our table and walked away. We then decided that we would just order a main and leave, this took some time to come the waitress dropped it off and ran away, two tables left without eating as they tried to wave someone down but were unsuccessful. We get our steak it’s nearly blue rare supposed to be medium rare, we don’t complain as there is no point we don’t want to wait any longer, takes us 20 mins to flag down staff to pay. When we do no thank you nothing they just walk away the minute payment is completed. When we leave no thank you from the host, we even said have a great night to him he just looked up at us and looked back down. This total experience took 2 hours 30 mins 2 cocktails 1 glass of wine 1 appetizer 1 main. What we had planned to have 4+ cocktails and 2-3 appetizers while we waited and hour or so to get mains 1-2 bottles of wine with 2 mains. So the owner can do the math on how much money they lost while we also took up a table for the better part of 2 hours. This is a higher end establishment I expect higher end service.

In May 2024, I visited this place for a lunch, with an order for some iced tea, a sandwich with crispy chicken, and a portion of sautéed champignons. The other choice line from the lunch menu was to go for a steak option which I didn't feel like taking on the day. Sandwich with crispy chicken (ambachtelijk broodje krokante kip) was a bit of a downer for me this time. The taste was okay, and also overall it was an okay sandwich, though none of the ingredients struck me as particularly fresh. On its own, that would have been a 3/5. However, the cost was rather high for this experience, thus a 2/5. Sautéed mushrooms (gebakken champignons) - This was fine, both in terms of quality and the cost for the portion size. 5/5 Iced Tea - this serving was a standard, with an addition of ice. Not everyone serves ice with the drink, so that was greatly appreciated. The price is in the range of what other restaurants are asking, so that is fine. One odd thing (which did not influence the rating) is that it was served with a relatively small glass (in image). Overall, even though this iced tea was in the overall price range for Amsterdam, I find the price quite high. Thus a 4/5. Atmosphere: There were two options, to either sit outside (which is not for me), or indoors (which I elected). At times, it got quite noisy due to occasional work done behind an open bar in the area. That atmosphere wasn't conductive of having a good meal, thus 2/5. There is an indoors sitting area further from this bar, but it wasn't open for me. If you can book those seats, they should be better in this regard than the central area around the bar. Staff: Interactions were fine. Cleanliness: Satisfactory to good. My compliments.

The worse experience ever!!!! 50€ for 2 burgers...one, meat burger and one vegetarian burger...but both WITHOUT FRIES!!!!!!!!!! The veggie burger, busy busy and busy about coriandre or cumin, I thought I asked for a burger not for an INDIAN veggie burger....and worse part of the story, is not mention on the menu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...I left almost everything on my plate but, I HAD TO PAY!!!! I asked to the waitress if I could get at least a discount, her answer "Ah, well, thats not one of my table, I don't know the story!!!!" 50€ for 2 burgers with no fries!!!!! And after my review, they send ne privetely a mail asking to explain to them whats happened...but I had already explain everything in my review so....them answer in the end: Dear Elisabetta, Thank you for taking the time to email us. We are very sorry to hear that this happened, this is not the service we want to give our costumers. You can always tell our colleagues that you don't like the taste of the burger and we can look at a solution right away. Unfortunately we can not make any changes about the price at the moment with the rising economy. We hope to welcome you again in the future to update your opinion. With kind regards, Team Loetje 🤦🏻♀️

Given that I had Loetje twice, I have to say I really enjoy the consistency of food here. The tuna steak is meaty, tasty and somewhat juicy. The real gold here though, is the steak that’s succulent in its meatiness and very well-cooked! Per Dutch’s standards, don’t expect your dishes to be fancifully garnished with non-essential; whatever you can see on the plate you can eat them, reducing waste, and rightfully so, because the food is very tasty. The creme brûlée is another dish that my party had. It is not too sweet, and worth the calories. Right by the water and across from Centraal station, the restaurant is easy to find. Just find the visitor centre outside of the station, walks down the stairs, and you are there. Service is not the best though, we were there around 1:30pm and it takes a while before someone comes to you to take order. The average of our party of 5 comes to around 25 euro. Not too shabby given the quality. Would come back though!
