Zeeduivel Visspecialiteiten — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I visited ZeeDuivel to grab a quick lunch after working out. The man at the counter was very friendly and helpful in translating all of the menu items for me (as I don’t speak Dutch) and recommending specific dishes and quantities that would be ideal for my meal.

I ended up getting the Tanjin (tuna) Tataki and the Gamba (shrimp) Spazje. Both were absolutely incredible. The shrimp was buttery, sautéed in onions, and came with a side of their homemade sauce (which complimented it well). The tuna was seared to perfection and lightly seasoned. Overall, it was very light and refreshing which was exactly what I was seeking. The tuna came with a side of soy sauce, a bit of seaweed salad, and wasabi. Honestly, this is probably the best tuna I’ve had in Amsterdam (and I actively seek our raw/seared tuna weekly).

I would highly highly highly recommend this restaurant. How there is not a line out the door of the restaurant, I do not know. However, I do know that I will definitely be coming...

A lot of fresh fish for a great price

When visiting the Kinkerbuurt in the old West of Amsterdam on a Saturday afternoon, I finally decided to enter the Zeeduivel. Every time I walk by, the place is packed. This time was no different so I walked around for another hour and came back ay a less busy hour.

I ordered the fish and chips since I had built up quite the appetite. The staff was friendly, I paid 10 euros and had a seat. When my food was ready I was shocked to see the portion I received. I received a huge plate of freshly baked fries and pieces of fish, accompanied by 2 sauces of my choice.

The fish was great, crispy on the outside and delicate and fresh on the inside. I loved it! The only downside for me was that it was way to big a portion for me. I remained full until the morning after. I’ll definitely go back to try more items...

Zeeduivel Visspecialiteiten is our go-to place for fish & chips and their amazing smoked mackerel sandwich. The ingredients are always super fresh, the food is perfectly prepared with generous portions, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They also have a variety of other specialties, like their perfect tuna sandwich, salads, fresh oysters and many other delicious options. You’ll often see lots of locals eating here, which says it all. Definitely the best fish...
