The old lady working here is something else I tell you. She greeted us and it made us feel very welcome but nothing else about our breakfast here made us feel this way.
We were a party of 2 adults and 1 baby. When we walked in we were seated at a table very quickly. We asked for a high chair and apparently the waiter forgot. My husband went to remind the waiter and instead of them handing him a high chair he had to go retrieve one himself as well as wipe it down while the waiters watched.
The waiter took our order and mixed it up because he came back to tell us an item we didn’t order was out of stock. We corrected the order. No problem. We ordered three beef empanadas one chicken and one cheese empanada and an egg plate. After clarifying and finally getting the order we realize we were given three beef and two chicken. How do we know because I broke them open. No problem. I let the lady and the waiter know. A simple fix right bring a cheese empanada. The waiter confirms he conveyed our order correctly with the lady. She is visibly annoyed and it shows. She talks to another waiter about it while glaring at us. It’s an awkward uncomfortable situation. She comes to the table with the cheese empanada (which wasn’t worth the wait or attitude). Points at the other empanada on our plate and asks will we pay for the chicken empanada. I say no and hand it back to her. It wasn’t our fault. I didn’t order it and i won’t pay for someone else’s mistake. Do you know this lady grabs that empanada and put it back in the case! Disgusting! For the remainder of our time there she glares at us as if it was our fault.
The saving grace was the drinks and convenient location to our hotel. The food was mid. It’s hard to mess up the basic items they serve. When we are done we ask to pay after waiting quite some time she asks what we order so she can ring us out. I guess she doesn’t trust because she confirms with the waiter. We have already waited to be checked out and now we are waiting even longer for her to confirm. Whatever. The icing on the cake was when she asks for a tip. Here is a tip: You can make a mistake if you own it and fix that r without making the customer feel uncomfortable.
We watched other groups get their food before us after being seated after us and check out expeditiously. This was not the case and everyone in...
Read moreoriginally planned on writing on 4 star review for Che Bar but now I’m bumping it down. They weren’t perfect but the food was better than a lot of the options around plus it’s affordable and they were really sweet to us. The blonde lady would always give us this loud, happy greeting whenever we came by. So we visited 4/8 days we stayed in Aruba.
But our last day at Che bar was really off putting and unexpected. On our last day, we could tell something was different. First, the strawberry lemonade was sweeter than usual and we’ve gotten this drink every time but that was okay. Friend A and I both had the skirt steak (which Friend A has ordered it multiple times because it’s her favorite, she even came to restaurant without us once to get it) and Friend B had gotten something new. Since it was first time trying the skirt streak from here, I thought it was fine nothing to write home about. But chimichurri sauce tasted a little different from before. Again I let it slide because I was like maybe the chef is different today.
However, Friend A probably took like 3 bites of the steak and couldn’t finish it. She thought it was a little cold and chewy, the displeasure was written on her face and the waitress could tell before we even flagged her over. They offered to put it back on the grill but my friend didn’t want it anymore so she wanted to looked at the menu. The blonde lady, who I going to assume is the manager, comes over to ask what happened and then tells us we have to pay for the steak. But the way her attitude switched was so weird. We’ve literally never had an issue before and we’ve visited multiple times. I guess it’s because it’s the slow season but the way she handled put such a bad taste in our mouths. We just wanted the check and to leave immediately. If you go there and like the food, great but if you have a single issue they’ll still charge you...
Read moreFood was okay but poor service. It started out fairly friendly but ended as a nightmare. Our waitress was attentive at first. We got the scrambled egg entree, which was okay but not great, and the donut pancakes. For the pancakes, she only gave us the option of 1 topping per order when they advertised 3 toppings. We asked if we could get 3 toppings but she insisted that they only could do 1. The pancakes were thin and bland. If you're from America, you would be able to eat it in 2 minutes with the amount they give you. Drinks were overpriced, with 2 small cups of juice totaling $20. After we got our food, she began to ignore us and stopped coming to our table. We couldn't get her attention to ask for the check. After trying to get her attention for around 5 minutes, I had to stand up and walk over to ask. After I asked, she continued to ignore us for a few minutes. Then the manager (short blonde hair) came out and gave my boyfriend the bill. As he was looking it over, she got close to him and repeatedly asked, "Bill okay? Bill okay?" As I was getting my card out to pay, she blatantly asked for a tip. She then stood there hanging over us as I was thinking how much to tip. She pointed to the tip portion of the receipt and asked a second time for a tip. Very rude. Overall, it was our first terrible experience in Aruba. Rated 5 stars so people can see this review, but in reality it's negative...
