The Sopranos Piano Bar — Restaurant in Aruba

I’ve come to Sopranos Piano bar on my many trips to Aruba and always had a good time. This last time I went with my girlfriend towards the end of the night and ordered a drink each. I’m not sure if it was past last call, but they had served us and the music was still playing. We were quietly sitting in the middle and within 5 minutes of receiving the drinks, security rudely told us “we’re closed!” and proceeded to kick us out (we had to down our drinks, one was champagne, so not enjoyable at all). On the way out, the security guard said something to us in Papiamento (which my girlfriend speaks), along the lines of “you people”. Needless to say, I won’t be returning until the security is more polite with customers. There are many options and everything on the island is expensive, so I won’t give business to bars that treat customers...

The restaurant itself was great from the manager constantly checking up on us from the waitress helping us light our cigars.

The reason I’m giving a 2 / 5 star review is because of the piano player, Joel Lightman. We tipped him $40 to play very basic songs from Are You Going to be my Girl by Jet, Crazy Rap Song by Afroman (which he proceeded to say “I’m sure they mean Colt 45) and then STILL NOT PLAY, and What I Got by Sublime. He complained about every song that he didn’t like and if he actually played it he rushed through it so he could get to the next tip.

I absolutely recommend sopranos, but I in no way recommend Joel unless you’re looking for someone to take your money, mock the song you tipped for and then proceed to play a bastardized / sped up version of his “liked” song so he can make more...
