If I could give six stars, I would.
This was a delightful restaurant experience.
When my mother and I arrived, we had no reservation, but the waiter who we had met at the door coming in was so kind and welcoming that we were happy to wait until a table opened up, and when it did, we were immediately taken care of in the kindest way. My mother had just come from the airport, so she had a suitcase (which they offered to stow in a corner for us) and flowers (which they put in a vase!).
When the food came, we were greeted by an even more delighful surprise. We both ordered the Chiara sandwich and found it to be fantastic. The bread tastes fresh, and the sandwich is not too dry nor too wet. Then, for dessert, we had a pistachio cannelicchi and the Torta Ricotta e Pere, which were both excellent.
I have not been to Italy before, but this restaurant is any indication of how friendly its people are, welcoming the atmosphere is, and delicious the food is, then I should certainly prioritize a trip there.
Thank you to everyone at Il Tartufo for providing us with such a beautiful experience. I...
Read moreI've been to Italy many times and this restaurant was truly like stepping into a little piece of Italy right in the heart of Delft! We visited this summer and the music, the decor, the staff, and the menu - everything was authentic.
Out of the dishes we tried, I liked Cannelloni Carne e Tartufo and Parmigiana di Melenzane the most, so those are some recommendations to try!
We didn't reserve a table in advance but thankfully they found one for us as soon as we came in. Some guests that came in afterwards had to wait though, since everything was full, so I recommend reserving a table in advance just to be sure, because the place is not so big (which fits the vibe perfectly of course).
The young blond waiter that was serving us did his job really well and was very kind.
The place has a great price-quality ratio and a great variety of available dishes. I always recommend it when I hear that someone is going to Delft, and I can't wait to...
Read moreBased on the reviews and the difficulty of getting a table without booking in advance, my expectations for this restaurant were high. What a disappointment. Where do I even start?
The cutlery and crockery were filthy, and the wine glasses felt and looked oily. Similarly, the plates and water glasses seemed really unsanitary.
The food was about as tasty as taking a bite out of a cardboard box. The pizza tasted like they grabbed it from the frozen aisle and just slapped some prosciutto on it: a dry pizza base with tasteless, cheap cheese and marinara. Similarly the risotto "chef special" of the evening looked severely unappealing and tasted the same.
For this price range there are much nicer places in town, I really would not recommend this restaurant and I will definitely...
