Restaurant Le Vieux Jean — Restaurant in Delft

We had a celebration dinner for 2 at Le Vieux Jean, which has been recommended by many people and we had a lovely dinner.

Our dinner was during their 50th year celebration so we went for their special 3 course LVJ menu. The menu is mostly some of their best dishes to date all very well executed. Although their menu changes each season, I'd recommend their beef bourguignon from the mains and the baba au rhum. Their cheese board is another good option with a good variety of cheese and crackers.

Apart from such a delicious meal, what sets LVJ apart from many restaurants is their 16 page long wine menu. For any Burgundy lover like me, this is highly appreciated. Their menu includes many well known domains and some rare vintages you can choose to pair with your dishes.

We were really happy with our service too, although it was packed full (on a Wednesday evening!) our food arrived fast and the staff is cheerful and kind. A very charming and cozy French restaurant in Delft, offering excellent cuisine with beautifully crafted tasting dishes paired with wonderful wines. The flavors were exceptional, each course thoughtfully prepared to create a memorable experience. Een culinaire parel in Delft

Voor de eerste keer bezocht, maar zeker niet de laatste: restaurant Le Vieux Jean in hartje Delft is in één woord geweldig. Vanaf het moment dat je binnenstapt, voel je dat je een bijzondere avond tegemoet gaat. Geen kille of afstandelijke ontvangst, maar een warme, oprechte begroeting door de gastvrouw die je meteen welkom laat voelen.

Het restaurant ademt klassieke charme en culinaire verfijning. De sfeer is intiem, stijlvol en uitnodigend, een perfecte setting voor een avond uit eten op niveau. De menukaart is prachtig uitgebalanceerd en biedt voor ieder wat wils, met aandacht voor zowel klassiekers als verrassende combinaties.

Wat dit bezoek extra bijzonder maakte, was de bediening. In een tijd waarin gastvrijheid soms lijkt te verdwijnen in de horeca, steekt Le Vieux Jean er met kop en schouders bovenuit. De medewerkers zijn professioneel, attent en duidelijk gepassioneerd over hun vak. Bij elk gerecht kregen we een zorgvuldige uitleg, en ook de alcoholvrije wijnarrangementen kregen alle aandacht, een zeldzame, maar zeer welkome toevoeging die onze avond compleet maakte.

Uiteraard hebben we ook een blik geworpen op de uitgebreide wijnkaart, die indrukwekkend is samengesteld. Zowel voor de liefhebber van bijzondere wijnen als voor de gast die liever alcoholvrij geniet, is er meer dan genoeg keuze.
