Our group of nine recently dined at Pelican Pier / Pelican Nest Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
Atmosphere: The setting is beautiful, located right on the water, offering stunning views of the ocean and sunset. The open-air dining area adds to the relaxed, tropical vibe. Despite being a larger group, we felt well accommodated and comfortable.
Service: The staff was incredibly attentive and efficient. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter was excellent, handling our large group with ease. He was knowledgeable about the menu, provided great recommendations, and ensured our drinks were always topped up. Special shout-out to the manager, who checked in to make sure everything was perfect.
Food: The food was outstanding. We started with a variety of appetizers to share – the calamari, coconut shrimp, and tuna tartare were all hits. For mains, the group enjoyed a range of dishes, including the grilled seafood platter, fresh catch of the day, and the famous Pelican Pier burger. Each dish was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Portions were generous, and everyone left feeling satisfied.
Drinks: The drink menu was equally impressive. We enjoyed a selection of tropical cocktails, local beers, and a decent wine list. The bartender’s cocktails were a highlight, particularly the signature Pelican Punch.
Overall Experience: Dining at Pelican Pier / Pelican Nest Restaurant was a memorable experience. The combination of great food, excellent service, and a fantastic atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this place is a must-visit, especially for groups looking to have a good time.
We’ll definitely be back!
Pros: Beautiful waterfront setting with stunning views Efficient and friendly service Delicious, well-prepared food with generous portions Great drink selection, especially the cocktails Comfortable seating for large groups
Cons: Can get busy, so reservations are recommended Parking might be a bit challenging during peak hours
Overall, Pelican Pier / Pelican Nest Restaurant is highly recommended for a wonderful group...
Read moreWe had reservations tonight at 7:45 and finally got sat just after 8:15…the table we were at had been open for at least 10-15 minutes before we were taken to it. Our waiter was inattentive and it felt like he was doing just what he had to in order to complete his job.
We started off with drinks and the crab cake. The Bellini was bland and our daughter got milk which was warm. The crab cake was not crispy on the outside and definitely wasn’t worth the $18 for one. With the slow service we ordered our meals as soon as the crab cake came out. I ended up just getting the coconut shrimp (which is always a favorite of mine) with broccolini and jasmine rice, our daughter got a burger and my husband ordered the filet. A short time later the waiter came out to say they were out of filet and would he want the skirt steak. My husband asked if they used the inside or outside for the skirt steak and the waiter had no idea what he was talking about so he ended up just getting the skirt steak.
Our food took a long time to come out and it was just as disappointing as the rest of our experience. I took one bite of the broccolini and it was so cold and soft, my coconut shrimp were lukewarm and my husbands skirt steak was about inedible. We ate what we could and asked for the bill.
To top it all off our daughter needed to go to the bathroom. For my husband to say a bathroom is disgusting takes a lot; when he came back to the table he said none of us would be going in there. He said it was filthy, there was no toilet paper and the water from the sink didn’t work. He looked into the men’s room and said it looked like a closet was converted to a bathroom.
To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We were looking forward to trying the restaurant from recommendations and location. When we got back to our hotel my husband and...
Read moreI need to review on how poor the service is here. We were assigned Fabio to our table of 10. After getting our menus it took over 30 minutes to get our orders in. When we inquired if we could order we were spoken to in a very rude way as if we needed to be patient and just wait. Then we didn't get our food until the restaurant was already closing. They started stacking the chairs and people were already gone. We waited over an hour to get our food. In that whole hour as we waited: Fabio never came to check in on us, to refill our water, to update us about the food. When we tried to get his attention he would see us waving and then turn around and walk away!! Never have I been treated so poorly. When we asked when our food would be ready because it was 10pm at that point he told us the food was fresh and that's why it took so long. I'm sorry but is the food being caught right then and there because I've been served fresh seafood my whole life and there really is no excuse. Especially when most of the restaurant was empty at this point having already finished their dinners and even desserts! The fact that such terrible service gets an automatic gratuity is disgusting. We were a table of Asian girls. Not sure if that played into anything but it seemed as if other people got better treatment.
By the time the food came we were so hungry we scarfed it all down in 10 mins. So was the food good because it was or because we were so hungry we didn't care at that point? Didn't matter because the whole dining experience left us angry and with a bitter taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Especially minorities. Maybe they only want to cater to a specific type of people and we...
