Chang Thai Bistro — Restaurant in Groningen

I ordered a vegetarian green curry (which has Thai aubergine, bamboo shoots, long beans, and basil leaves). When the curry came, I noticed that the curry was not the same as stated in the menu. I told the waitress about the issue and she told me that the Thai aubergine and bamboo shoots ran out. I told her that she could have informed me because I would have not ordered this curry otherwise.

Instead, the dish came with broccoli, carrot, zucchini, beans, and sugar snap peas. I love Thai aubergine, which made it even more disappointing when it was missing from the dish. The vegetables in a vegetarian dish is very important. I still had to pay €17.50 for this incomplete dish.

The cashier briefly apologised and then handed me the bill. He was very inattentive and dismissive of my terrible experience and complaint. This further adds to the awful service. He seemed more concerned about the bill than my experience dining here.

The chef could have at least informed the waiting staff that several ingredients ran out and alternatives will be used instead.

As a customer, I would have appreciated being told about this so that I could have made an informed decision. This vegetarian dish was not worth €17.50.

2023: Chiang Thai, het pareltje van het Noorden.

Vandaag waren we met een groep van negen personen, waaronder twee kinderen. Reserveren was geen enkel probleem en we hadden een mooi lange tafel gekregen.

We hadden verschillende voorgerechten die we samen deelden. Ze smaakten allen enorm smakelijk en vers. Vooral de huisgemaakte kip saté, Thaise viskoekjes en de zwarte tijgergarnalen in een krokante jasje vielen erg in de smaak!

De bediening was vlot en vriendelijk met een glimlach. Drankjes kwamen snel en een foutje met een verkeerde smaak van icetea werd meteen opgelost.

Als hoofdgerechten hadden we verschillende curry's en wokgerechten. De spice level was 'on point' en de smaken waren ontzettend lekker. Alle volwassenen waren het eens dat Chang Thai je echt mee naar Thailand brengt! De Massaman en Choe Chie curry's werden zelfs als lekkerder dan in Thailand bevonden!

We zijn het allemaal eens dat Chang Thai Thailand, de sfeer en Thaise smaken naar Nederland hebben gebracht. We komen zeker weer!

2021: Dit is by far de beste Thai restaurant in de stad. Het eten is altijd super vers, de groenten zij altijd lekker knapperig en de bediening is super aardig en attent. Het is zeer geschikt om hier als koppel een romantische diner te hebben of als groep lekker gezellig te tafelen. De groene curry, Pad Thai en Krapao (nr. 32) zijn echt mijn favoriet!
