Il Sogno Cucina Italiana e Pizzeria — Restaurant in Groningen

While the food, by its complete self, was perfectly fine, the quality of service severly undermined the experience. The only time a waiter approched us was when we wanted to switch tables to a one not blocked by an umbrella, they wouldn't take our empty glasses away, no salt or pepper on the table, and the waiter barely even spoke anything audibly. On top of that, the dishes were all served seperatly, so that we all ate at a different time. My dish in particular was even forgotten about by the staff, so by the time I finally received, my parents were done for around 20 minutes already. Instead of serving us Lambrusco, we received some cheap, red wine. Also, the Aperol Spritz reeked of old cucumbers for some reason. You can definitely do better...

If you enjoy a classic Italian pizza Ill Sogno will fulfill your expectations. We tried their "4 cheese" and "4 stations pizzas" for the first time while visiting Groningen this Easter. Mamma mia! The dough had the right thickness (not like the typical American ones!) and it was mouth-watering tasty. Contrary to other places, they were very generous with the quantity & quality of the ingredients. Also, high five for a yummy classic tiramisu! Next time we're in the city we will try the tiramisu limoncello. Order & pick up from them directly to help them get more profit in this challenging period. #steunhoreca...

Il Sogno Cucina is excellent. It's family owned and run by Italians (parlo Italiano - non tanto bene ma sufficiente) and is frequented by Italians. They have a lovely back courtyard with grape vines and canopies for shade. Excellent food. Nice grappa and the best dinner I've had...
