Hemingway's Cuba — Restaurant in Groningen

The cocktails are actually fine, not great, just fine. Started off with bread with aioli and olive tapenade, the bread was very nice and fluffy and crunchy and got me excited for the rest. Sadly i was disappointed. The ribs were tasteless with a bit of garlic sauce, the baby prawns likewise, and the fried chicken was nothing to write home about the “Jamaican” sauce was basically curry sauce with lemon and parsley. The one i was the saddest about was the chicken and waffle, the driest, most tasteless waffle ever and kara age chicken bits out of a box. that one made me almost cry. that being said, the salad was really nice, really good dressing in my opinion and the cheese platter gave you a good amount of cheese for that price. Service was really nice and thoughtful although some drink orders...

Food We got the papa's tapas and got served a whole lot of food which we could not finish at all. It's great value for money but I also felt bad cause so much food goes to waste. They could easily make the portions a bit smaller and still it would be more than enough.

Service Very friendly staff. They're quick to take your order and they ask in between rounds if your ready for the next one. You can determine your own pace of eating and that's nice.

Atmosphere It's a busy restaurant (always full it seems) but with the reservations I requested a corner table due to being autistic and getting stressed out if I'm somewhere in the middle surrounded by loud tables. We got our corner table and it was great. It does however still get very loud in between music, people dining and staff...

The only reference to Hemingway in Groningen is the Hemingway Cuba Restaurant. We had a reservation for 6.45pm for the evening of our arrival but arrived at 6pm hungry and tired. We had skipped eating lunch. We were welcomed in all the same and while we were there we saw the colourful space transform itself from a tranquil ambiance to a vibrant and energetic vibe that made conversation almost impossible but then we usually have very little to say! Graham enjoyed pulled pork whilst I was satisfied with salmon on a skewer.

But it is the tastiest nachos served with cheese guacamole and tomato salsa that will remain memorable. Crunchy and tasty till the last bite, unevenly cut; they were certainly not shop...
