MARKD. — Restaurant in Haarlem

Good food, excellent location in Haarlem center however (and the reason for the 2 stars) very slow and indifferent service. If you want to read my personal experience and why personally I will not return, read below. Bottom line - if you happen to be in the area and/or avoid rush hour, you should check it out as the food is good and decent prices (4 people having 4 secondi, 4 primi & 2 bottles of mine = 212€). Make sure to pick a table in the back as it’s less noisy Finally, if you do come in during rush hour, make sure you have patience to wait.

For me personally, my 2nd visit was the last. Mainly because of the attitude & treatment of the staff which made me & my friends feel grouchy & old (not what you want to feel on your friend’s birthday). It started off with waiting to be sited for about 10 min next to the bar with our coats on, even though we were on time for our reservation, while the staff does it best to ignore us and the shift supervisor stopping to greet his friends that came in after us. Than, same supervisor offered us to a table another party refused to sit in because of its location saying - this is all we have now so it’s either this or you need to wait (again, we’ve reserved a table in advance). It continued with waiting for over an hour between courses and ended up with waiting for 20min to give our desert order (which we decided not to do cause we didn’t want to wait another hour). We were in other places where the rush hour and/or overcrowded caused delays but most places will make sure to apologize and/or offer compensation. Here, the staff, while friendly, was basically aware of the situation but choose to ignore it and us. We left feeling hungry, disappointed...

Dinner in a nice restaurant on a Saturday night in Haarlem is always tricky. Diga is a lovely restaurant, deco and atmosphere is just lovely.

The chairs we had were quite strange ur but almost disappeared into this almost like a dip in the chair while ur thighs were slightly lifted. It makes for a fun sit for 30 mins but after 2or 3 hours it gets uncomfortable... the table we had for 3 was actually ment for 2 so it was a bit stuffed with little room to manoeuvre.

We had the chefs menu which was great 35 euros for a 3 course meal. It's the first time I have opted for this option. I have to say the thought of someone else picking my meals for me was terrifying. But chefs choice was spot on. I got to try new flavours I dont think I would have otherwise and loved it. I wasn't too crazy about my desert tho but u cant have it all.

The main course however was sensational meat was perfectly moist, veggies, mousse and sause complimented it beautifully. I could have had 3 more of it tho😉.

We did find the portions a bit on the small side but I think adding one or 2 more course would be perfect. The wait in between meals where really long. I did appreciate the fact that it was a busy busy place I still dont think its enough reason to not be attentive to clients. The wine list is amazing.

I definitely recommend it just dont go there hungry or in a hurrry, make a night out it take your time to enjoy your company and surroundings. I will be...

Worst service ever in my life...We were 2 families with 4 adults and 4 kids(including 2 infants)...While we were waiting for our main course for almost an hour, ,one of the staff came with the bill (without food) and asked to pay as the rule is to close restaurant at 8pm...They realised the fact that we didn't get our food , only when we told them(even though we were sitting on a big table just in front of their main door)...They did an apology and started preparing the food..Until then, its kind of ok...The unexpected and most worse thing was soon after serving the food, they asked us to leave the place as they want to close...we were not done at that moment, but we had to leave the place...So because of their fault, we had to wait for long time, couldn't have the food comfortably, and got insulted by asking us to leave...The mystery we still having is they forget about our dishes to cook, but they didn't forget the dishes in the bill and was very punctual about the bill...Also it was very first time that we had to pay the bill even before they...
