A former employee speaks of that horrible place. About the food, I can say that it is disgusting, frozen and pre-cooked. Inflated prices for such bad service. A waste of money and time, having Maita two minutes away, and with the great gastronomic offer in Haarlem, it is a very bad decision to go to that "restaurant"
Regarding what customers "don't see" I can say that the kitchen and refrigerators are simply disgusting. Something about which health inspection has already made several observations.
And worst of all. "The Cook". A mediocre crazy Irani, incapable of properly relating to anyone without disrespect. It has turned the kitchen into a horrible dictatorship where employees are treated like trash. Verbal, racist and homophobic attacks are constant. One is forced to work more hours than those stated in the contract, with no possibility of reply.
Myself suffered a physical attack from this man, Hamid Reza Barack, one night when he was drunk, during. My partner, also, had a second degree burn on his arm, and was forced to continue working. Until he ended up being admitted to a psychiatric hospital due to the treatment he received. All this has been reported to the Spanish embassy and the Netherlands police. If you intend to eat at Spaarne66, think twice about where, and with whom, you are...
Read more(Have to edit this review since it was hidden) I often went to this cafe with my best friend. Service was always great and so was the menu, love their cheese cake!
Unfortunately, I had a friend visiting Haarlem for the first time and wanted to recommend this cafe, however it was ruined by one lady (picture cannot be posted as it was the reason my review was hidden). From the moment we came in, she did not welcome us, not even a smile. Then I wanted to sit on the table behind her which our elbows accidentally touched and the coffee on her tray was spilled. I then quickly apologized which was ignored by her while she gave me a face.
After I sat down, I saw her again and personally approached her to apologize again and if I can pay for the coffee that was spilled, surprisingly, I was completely ignored by her which was excellent.
Let this review be a good learning moment for this lady, you have to be kind if you work in a hospitality industry. Because it is sad that we both were ignored, yet less than two minutes later you have a smile for your European customers.
I still recommend this place cause the rest of the team are very friendly...
Read moreNice restaurant, unfortunately the dishes are quite expensive for what you get. The satay is already 22.50, but if you want fries with it it costs you 5 euro more, so that is almost 30 euro for a simple dish with chicken, fries and some cassave.
The options for vegans are also quite scarce unfortunately.
The location however is ideal, next to the water and next to the centre. The staff was friendly and accommodating too, it just took a little long to get drinks.
Would i recommend this place? Yes, if you're not vegan and just want to have a simple...
