We booked this for our last night on holiday in Amsterdam. We saw the good reviews and had eaten some great meals throughout the week. But this one blew us away. Hands down it was the best meal we had on our vacation. Not only that, but we had the best service here as well. Our servers, Brit and Danielle, were welcoming and took time to explain the dishes in English for us. We opted for the 6 course chef's dinner. We were treated to several small dishes that were not on the menu. Each course building to the next.

We were treated to a three small bites to begin, a creme brulee, a potato salad, and a vegan mushroom in a yellow curry sauce. From there we enjoyed (1) tuna tartar dish, (2) mullet fish with mushrooms and hazelnuts, (3) smoked celery and apricots, (4) lamb on a potato puree with tomato hollandaise sauce, and finished with (5) skirt steak with an onion soup and green herb sauce. Finally, they gave us the choice of cheeses or something sweet for dessert. We opted for sweet. Our dessert (6) was a poached peach with vanilla ice cream over an almond cake.

Five stars for flavor combinations, four stars for wine options, but really two stars for service.

Our first visit, for a special birthday. Nice table and decor, music not too loud. We took the three-course dinner option. Great flavors and surprises, these were mostly up to par. Wine options were good, except for the Luna prosecco which is below average.

The dark chocolate dessert is very good, however the granola bar which was part of the menu was sub-par (nothing special).

The quality of service was a disappointment to us. I felt truly abandoned, in fact having to flag down a waitress or waiter five or six times during the course of three hours. This is not to be expected in a Bib Gourmand, is it? There was no care in the service, it was functional and the low point of our experience. For the price, this was objectionable.

If the service were to improve significantly, Moustique would be a favorite for us. Fingers crossed that these reviews are read...

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. A truly amazing experience. We went there twice during our stay in Haarlem, and I must say I would gladly go back again. The first time we had a four-course tasting dinner with a bottle of wine. I must admit, the service was excellent and the food was simply delicious. When we returned, we had a five-course dinner, with completely different dishes. The lady who served us unfortunately, I forgot her name, I’m sorry, made sure to ask what we don’t like, if we had any allergies, and whether we wanted the same dishes as before or something different. I have to say, it was an incredible culinary experience, because with every bite a new flavor and a new texture unfolded from the starter to the main course to the dessert. It was truly something extraordinary. I believe everyone should add this restaurant to their must-visit list. A must-see, must-have, must-do if you are...

We went to the Moustique restaurant in Haarlem and loved the food and the atmosphere. We ordered the 4-course surprise menu. Each course was freshly prepared, creatively presented and delicious. The ingredients were of high quality and harmonized perfectly. The star should not be far away.... The staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere and beautiful interior. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back. I can recommend the Moustique restaurant to anyone who wants to experience a culinary journey in a class of its own.
