Nestled in a charming setting, Vilma and Albert offers cuisine prepared with undeniable care. Each dish showcases a meticulous attention to detail, reflecting the expertise of the kitchen team. However, despite this evident effort, the quality of the meat is somewhat lacking. While not poor, it falls short of the excellence expected in a restaurant of this caliber, with a slight lack of tenderness and flavor that limits the overall dining experience. On the other hand, the true highlight of this meal undoubtedly lies in the desserts. Delicately crafted, they successfully combine finesse and indulgence, making them the most memorable part of the culinary experience. A sweet touch that ends the meal on a notably positive note. Nevertheless, one shadow looms over the experience: the pricing. Although the overall quality is undeniable, it does not seem to justify such a high cost. The value for money appears unbalanced, which may deter some diners. In conclusion, Vilma and Albert offers a decent, occasionally pleasant experience but struggles to fully convince given its price positioning. A place where one can enjoy a nice moment, provided they are willing to accept a slightly overpriced bill relative to the service offered.

Ok, where do I start? On the menu card, we found a steak & potato chips. 500 grams, explicitly written on the card. 27,50 euros. Not bad, was our idea... Well, not mentioned, that a sauce will do 4 euros extra, and vegetables or mushrooms another 5 euro extra. Ok, whatever. The steak we got, was by my observation (yes I'm a chef too) around 170-190 grams. Not even the half of what is advertised. The 4 euro sauce was two tablespoons of chili sauce. Yeah really. There was also some salad. Very, very little portion of salad. That felt dry, it was definitely not fresh. Common guys, at least keep it moisturized... When we were asked, of everything was OK and the first of us shared his disappointment, waiter walked away, the other two did not even got the chance to say something. We asked for a talk with some representative, and the only thing he could tell us was, that the 500 grams steak was a type fault on the card. They finally gave us a discount - 3 meals for the price of 2. But really, what a disappointment. This is not a restaurant, this is a money mill ;-) NEVER AGAIN!

This was a situation where we felt we made a great restaurant choice. There are lots of places serving drinks as people enjoy the end of day sun near the church, few people had food that we could see/evaluate. We noticed Wilma an Albert earlier in the day, with a menu on the board offering croquettes, and other Dutch fare at lunch. None to be seen now ... but a quick chat with a super friendly waiter, 'sure' have a seat, yes we can make up croquettes. It turned into a super friendly meal, talked with the chef, waiter offering numerous travel suggestions, etc. Nicely decorated and cozy interior with lots of 20th centuries memorabilia everywhere! The youngest member or our party also loved the French onion soup.

After a nice beach day out we wanted to have a beer in the city to close the evening. Living in Haarlem, this place looked real nice and the manager was very friendly and found us a cozy spot near the fire.

The rest of the staff were very rude. We wanted to have a beer and a small snack. ‘This is a steak house, not a ‘borrel’ place.’ Is what we got first. I asked another staff member when we were ready to order. He said: My colleague already told you we don’t have that right? Me: She said to ask if it was possible.

As he continued to be rude, I decided to walk after him and cancel the order. Then I found him talking about me/us to his colleague. When I cancelled, he answered: Is goed gap. Kind of rude to talk to your guests like that.

I told the manager why we were leaving. The manager apologized, then the staff member added: Oh I’m not gonna apologize to him.

I’d never go back to this place and do not recommend to go to this place either. A night out or a nice dinner is as well about the experience. The experience in here (apart from the incredibly nice manager)...
