One of the very best restaurants in Leiden. The interior is beautiful - a tastefully renovated old building across the street from the Hooglandsekerk. We were seated in the upper level and went for the 6-course menu. The whole dinner was a fine balance between a broad range of flavors and a great deal of cohesiveness. Inspirations came from widely different places - the first course was a cod in tea broth that was very Japanese-inspired. That was followed by one of the most stunningly beautiful dishes of the evening - based entirely on carrots. The flavors and the colours were a feast to the eyes and the palate. The rest of the dinner retained this fantastic level all the way to the dessert, that included a basil ice cream that was simply divine. We had 4 half-glasses of wine, instead of the 6 full glasses wine pairing, and the waitress wisely chose for us the wines (and even refilled a little when she saw that I finished mine... very sweet!). Attentive and smiling staff throughout the meal, and an overall very reasonable price for a really wonderful dinner. We will definitely be...

Quaint restaurant located just across the street from the picturesque Hooglandse Kerk in central Leiden. Great atmosphere, both upstairs and downstairs. Soft lighting and traditional wood interior architecture. The internet consensus was to go with the chef's menu, so I chose the 5 course with wine pairing, and was not disappointed. Highlights were fish infused with beetroot, beef cheek ravioli and a rare hanger steak main course. Wine pairings from Argentina, south Rhone Valley, Barbera d'Asti and Negroamaro from Puglia. Finished off the meal with a cheese plate (including an exceptional blue cheese from Utrecht) paired with a white Port wine. Service was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. A truly sublime meal, so kudos to the...

We were quite disappointed by the speed of service at the Bishop. It is the slowest dining experience I had so far. We ordered chef’s menu with 5 course, and main course came after 2 hours that we sat down. Portions are quite small aswell that’s why after finishing each course, we had to wait for long times for other course to come. Waiter did not inform us at all about these waiting times till we asked. The food has good quality and taste, but not anything super impressive for a Michelin Guided place. Unfortunately, the long waiting times between each course made our experience really unpleasant in general. I hope they can improve the service in the future.

Wonderful experience Such a pleasant experience - good food (three courses chefs menu), delicious wine (a bottle of white and one of red), wonderful service by Fleur. Thanks a lot for a splendid night! The chefs menu changes every other week, which makes the options interesting. They are more than open to changing the menu if you have allergies or the like - one of us got a lactose free dessert, which as an added bonus was also for vegans. Picture is of our dessert; a rose pepper Panna Cotta with a citrusy ice cream, a peace of sponge cake, a bit of cookie crumbs, and three dollops of buckthorn. Delicious and exciting.
