Anne&Max Leiden — Restaurant in Leiden

There's cold drip on their iced coffee section. We asked if we could have the cold drip with ice, and explicitly remarked if it would be possible to have it without milk nor cream. After hesitating for a good minute, the waitress nodded and said no problem.

First they brought us two iced lattes topped with cream, we said we did not ordered that and the waitress asked us if we were sure about it. We were kinda sure mostly because we're lactose intolerant, but not minding the mistake we told her (again) that we had asked for their black cold drip with ice. She said she would be right back with our order. She came back, this time with two iced lattes without cream on top. She tried to convince us that this is what we had ordered and mentioned that the lattes were made with soya milk. After some back and forth, I said I honestly did not care if that was soya or rice milk because it was the third time I was explicitly asking for their black cold drip coffee without milk nor cream of any kind. She said she would be right back again.

This time she brought us hot black coffee with a couple of ice cubes in it which lasted a couple of minutes and left the coffee hot anyways. At that point, I just wanted to get up and leave. My partner talked me into finishing our food and not coming back. I don't know what was so difficult to understand that they couldn't get it right not even on their third try. They ended up charging us for two iced lattes anyway. The level of incompetence is...

It's easy to miss this gem of a place in Leiden. I usually go in to have their cappuccino which, by the way is the best coffee I've tasted in a long time (and I don't even like coffee). Today, I decided to try out their breakfast and I'm really glad I did. Their "Droom Croissant" is just that 😍 Since that was such a hit, I decided to try out their scone with clotted cream and fruity jam. It was the first time I'd had a scone which seemed to be made from whole wheat flour but which was just as soft and melt in the mouth as a scone made from regular flour! I was in gastro heaven 😊👌 what's more is that the staff are friendly and always have a smile on their face however busy it gets! Thank you very much Anne&Max for a cosy, tasty and warm foodie experience!...

We always enjoy Anne & Max! The food and drinks are always good and the staff is very kind.

Now we have different positive experiences than in the past as we have a young child to join us. Today we ordered a children's yogurt bowl and it was very nice and cheerful! (We ordered without granola as that would be too hard of a texture) An employee even later came back to confirm that it was a good fit. :-) For young children a few banana slices may also be top, but even still with some supervision it was a lovely meal for our little one. We accidentally left a spoon and quickly returned to ask if it could be returned. An employee was happy to get the spoon and it was even already cleaned !! We appreciate the attention...
