I used to really love coming to this place. I would come alone, with my friends, with family... It was one of our top places! But over the past year or so I have consistently had negative experiences at Bagels and Beans. I've waited with placing a review to see if this happened regularly. As the other recent, lower-star reviews have described, Bagels and Beans now runs like a revolving-door, where it seems they want to get people in and out as quickly as possible, at the cost of their customer's experience. God forbid you take out a laptop or book, they will tell you that you have to leave your table to make room for other customers (even if you are consistently ordering food and drinks). They now have a designated "study table" that is in the dark, back corner of the cafe, with many chairs crammed along a table on the wall. If you come with others you will also most likely be crammed into the smallest possible table, or be told that you will have to move if a larger group comes in. Several times I've been told to move tables halfway during a meal. With regards to staff, there are many friendly people working here, but more and more often we have encountered unfriendly staff members. I'm really disappointed because me and my family loved this place, but it simply isn't what it used to be. I'm hoping this can change again in the future and I wish the management the best of luck in righting the "ship" of this branch of Bagels...
Read moreI just moved to Maastricht. My friend is a loyal customer of your restaurant. He also ordered your bagels via UberEats. So i wanted to try your food. I came to your place on 18th of September when it was not crowded at all. I took a seat in front of the window. Ordered my bagel and a cafe. One of your waitresses came in a bit and asked to take the chair next to me, where i put my bag, even though all the other ones (2 more) next to me were empty. She just picked the one i put my bag. And i asked her if she could take another one, she replied that i need to remove my bag because someone MIGHT come. The rest of the seats were completely empty. I found this very weird and did not feel respected but okay. When i was paying at the cashier, she literally told me that today they let me sit and use my computer because the restaurant was empty but if i come another time, this is not possible. It was not busy at all and she told this to me in the middle of everyone and out of nowhere when i was leaving.
I mean i went there to experience your food and have a good time. I felt very disrespected and left very disappointed.

Read moreThe food is good quality and fresh but the service and the way it was prepared was disappointing. The server would walk away from a table where 3 people sit while only 2 orders have been taken without noticing something is wrong.. also, they have zero flexibility with regards to seating, 3 people cannot just move 2 2-person tables together but instead are forced to sit at a small table. They say it is already “arranged for 3 people” but in practice it just means an extra chair for a small table where food and drinks for 3 people just do not fit at all. (All of this while a part if the seating area is just clised off and not used at all.) Furthermore, orders have been taken from 2 different tables first regardless that they arrived and sat down only 2-4 minutes after us. This consequently induced extra 5 minutes of waiting time too for the serving of thw order.
To further add to the issues, one of the workers in the kitchen proceeded to one of the storage rooms, touched the door handle and brought a box out, after which (without washing hands or using gloves!) proceedes to touch and...
