Picked an online offer today to try out this sweet little restaurant. Wasn't sure what to expect besides it was likely to be French cuisine. Our preset 3 course diner allowed us to pick from 3 dishes of the menu each course.
The starters, carpaccio and garlic scampi's, were tasty but nothing out of the ordinary for a restaurant in Maastricht.
Decided to ask for the foie gras as an extra which was served with some compote and roasted brioche and tasted brilliant.
The main courses however were amazing. The bavette was prepared to perfection, red on the inside and nearly black on the outside. The meat was so beautiful and delicious. The canard a l'orange had the best orange sauce I had in a long time. Lovely thick and sweet and full of flavour. The duck itself was slow cooked and fell apart by the touch of the fork.
Been a long time since I scraped my plate clean but it seemed like such a waste to leave anything behind. Staff was friendly and helpful and the entourage is very pleasant and warm.
Great choice if you're looking for some quality french style cooking at a fair price. Just hope that you can...
Read morethe prospect was there .. but it failed. we reserved a table for two, first time in this restaurant .. (last also) we opted for a three course menu but we didn't get there ... the appetizer was a Coquilles stuffed with celeriac, spinach and escargort ... but the filling contained the white onion .. which totally killed the delicacy and sweetness of the Coquilles ... the second course my partner bavette which was good. I a fillet of cod with mussels cooked under vacuum ... the mussels were not cleaned well ... the cod unfortunately despite cooking with the mussels was bland and not fresh fish. but the thing that left us terribly was the welcome ... as an aperitif we opted for two glasses of champagne which unfortunately were not accompanied by anything while the tables around us received menus and a platter of salami sliced at the moment by the waiter ..... I wonder it was why we didn't speak Dutch? were we there for the first time? weren't we nice of them? but all this does not authorize him to treat us...
Read moreThe ambience is great and the food is delicious. However, some points could surely be improved. First, during reservation I indicated that one person does not eat meat. As appetizer we got sliced sausage, nothing else. Not really prepared I wonder? We had reserved at 17.30 but the restaurant first opened at 17.45, a little bit more respect for the customer perhaps? When examining the wine chart, the owner disappeared and the waitress first asked us just before the main course which wine we wanted. A little late perhaps? The food is really good but the greens with the first course where prepared without love and the carrots of the main course were quite uncooked and hard to cut with a knife. The dessert was also in need of some TLC. Price wise it is fine, the courses are very well priced, some wines are however quite expensive when compared to market prices. As said earlier, the food is really good and it was a great experience but it could be excellent when paying attention to some details and...
