I ordered takeout yesterday and I was impressed by the wide variety of stews on the menu, all from different corners of the world. I decided to try the goulash, and I was not disappointed. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender, the sauce was rich and flavorful. The quality of the bread was also good, and I liked the possibility to add bread, potatoes, rice and pasta to your stew for free, so you can try different combinations e find the best one for you. We found this little restaurant in the back streets of Maastricht. The couple who run the Stoof are passionate about their food and were lovely, inviting and fully explained their food. There is a number of different dishes from around Europe and Asia, all of which a basically stews. The food was delicious and my favourite was the local Dutch style stews. I visited this place and tried the proeverij, where 2 people can choose 3 kinds of stews to share from a pool of around 12 kinds (2 of them had only vegetables). We chose the vlaamse stoofvlees, one with pork in creamy herbs and an eastern yellow curry with oyster mushrooms. They were all very delicious and unique in their flavour.
