Taverna La Vaca — Restaurant in Maastricht

It's a tapas/platter place with good fresh food. No complaints about the food. But the service, the two times I was there, it is horrible. They are friendly people, but maybe they need to have more people attending all the small tables they have.

I have been there twice. The first time we had just to wait long to be served. It happens. The second time it was a nightmare. The food arrived after more than 45 minutes we were sitting and waiting. Our glasses were empty and it was hard to get more drinks. We asked three times. They told us just a moment but no one came to our table. Finally I had to stand up with the glasses and went to ask directly for some more drinks. Amazingly I had to wait even there. At the end they charged us more for something we didn't have. The issue was immediately solved and these things can happen but that did not improve our already very annoyed mood.

It's a nice place and the people are lovely. But I will never go back there unless I see an army of people taking good care...

The location is beautiful and the exterior is picturesque. The staff is polite. However, our experience was not very pleasant. We sat at a table outside and while the waitress saw us, no one came to take our order. After 15 minutes I went in to remind them, that we were sitting outside and hadn't ordered yet. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and a cheese platter. The wine came a little late but it was delicious. The cheese platter never came, even though we reminded the waitresses twice. After 50 minutes (and zero cheese platter on the table) we decided to leave. Although the cheese platter never came to our table, it was charged to our bill. In the end its value was deducted from the account. Unacceptable service...

I went there because a friend of mine recommended it. Believe me, from now on I will never listen to his recommendations again. Not only was the food mediocre, but the prices were astronomical as well. As a group of 3 people, we ordered salmon sticks, a plate with mixed cheese and ham and 3 refreshments. I have to say that the salmon sticks were only 3 and that they were not something special, while the ham and the cheese were like as if they had been purchased from the local supermarket and then they were placed in our pates. For these things, we payed approximately 40€. There are many other restaurants in the region selling delicious food...
