Café Charlemagne — Restaurant in Maastricht

If you are looking for a nice coffee place where you would be treated nicely, this is not the place you are looking for. First of all, the waiters do not really know their products. I ordered a bottle of water after asking how big the bottle was and receiving the answer: “normal”. The “normal” bottle of water turned to be a glass of water, a single glass of water, for which I payed 3€. However, an over expensive glass of water was not the worst thing. My friends ordered both a hot chocolate, which they drank eating some stroopwaffles we bought before. Since I was still thirsty, one of my friends offered me some of her water. In that moment, one of the waiters, whose rudeness I would like to highlight, came and told us, very unkindly, that we couldn’t drink nor eat anything from outside the cafe. The idea is perfectly understandable, but how he said it was uncalled for. He proceeded to talk to us as if we were dumb, and kept asking us if we wanted to drink or eat we had to order something , even though we told him several times we didn’t want. Ordered a Greek salad and a coke (pepsi). Halfway through my salad I discover I'm chewing on someone else's enamel tooth veneer ... that had been dropped into my salad.

I alerted the staff and was told by the manager that "this is not normal"......

Noone owned up to tampering my salad...and I was offered something else. Needless to say I passed but was still told I need to pay for the coke! Customer service at its finest!

3days of stomach cramps and diahorria later I suspect there was more in my salad then just someones enamel tooth.

Called in last Saturday for a few drinks but ended up having something to eat too, as everywhere was very crowded.

There were 3 of us and I had the classic burger and the two girls both had the rabbit.

All the meals were presented well and tasted fine. However, that evening one of the girls came down with sickness and diarrhea, as did the other one the following day. It's too much of a coincidence to assume that it could have been anything other than the food that had caused it.
