At this price point one should expect greatness and LG smith's delivers. The lighting and temperature are perfect and the view over the harbor from the restaurant is pretty. The server we have is very relaxed. Not overly friendly but absolutely not stiff and the manager is great. The amuse bouche and the bread are fantastic, so are the starters. The tuna lightly seared with a soya salty sauce and the grilled caesar has a great smokiness from the grill. For the main my wife has the cowboy steak, a very good ribeye on the bone with great sauce and asparagus. Top tier.
I get the 30 day aged ribeye and sweet potato wedges - a bad choice, the sweet potatoes are just to sweet to be a nice side for meat. Not the restaurants fault but get another side. The béarnaise sauce is fluffy but lacking in flavor but the real problem is the meat. They do a big thing about the salt but it's impossible to taste any and the meat is very bland but worse they haven't trimmed the dried edges off before cooking the steak. So you have to trim it of yourself and are left with a small tasteless piece of meat. Out server realizes i'm not impressed and calls over the manager without me complaining. I tell them what's wrong, the chef comes out and talks with us, apologies and they take the dish and desert and coffee off the bill. The desert by the way is a classic creme brûlée that is good but could be even better with a tad less gelatin and a better ratio crust/cream.
All in all the food was very expensive but also very good and when i wasn't happy with my dish it was handled very professionally by the staff. Highly recommend a visit but maybe stay away from the dry...
Read moreWe are currently still in Aruba enjoying ourselves in this beautiful country! We had a fabulous dinner experience at LG's the other night celebrating my daughter's and my birthdays. This is a very elegant, upscale restaurant with ambiance plus! We are staying at the Renaissance Resort, which is connected to LG's.
Our waiter was the very attentive, professional, and friendly Omar. He deserves a medal for all of our questions about the menu as well as Aruba and Oranjastad! He was outstanding.
We each ordered a ribeye, which was brought out on a rolling cart by the chef with a large cut of the Rib. He sliced 10 oz in front of us and weighed it. The Rib has to weigh a minimum of 10oz, but you can order a larger cut. There are 4 choices of sauces that you can request for your ribeye. We chose the mildest one with the Morell mushrooms in it, and it was so good. Our ribeyes were cooked to perfection (medium) and were very flavorful. Our sides were baked potatoes.
For an appetizer, we had French Onion soup, which tasted like it was actually made from scratch and soooo delicious. It wasn't heavy like other places make it. I really liked it.
To accompany our dinner, we chose Merlot from the St. Michelle winery in Washington State. It never disappoints.
At the end of our dinner, Omar brought out our Creme Brulee with a giant sparkler for us birthday girls! We loved it and thank you!
We hope to come back to LG Smith in the near future. It is a top-notch, upscale restaurant where you feel very comfortable. We highly...
Read moreThis was actually the most unpleasant experiences I ever had at a restaurant. I’m not sure if the restaurant was overwhelmed or if they were just having a bad night. It wasn’t crazy busy, so I’m not sure what the problem was. I booked this dinner for my birthday and I had high expectations. The bartender that comes to your table is amazing. He was the best part of the night. After that, everything was kind of downhill. Our server completely forgot about us and was a bit rude. We had to ask the runner to get our server so that we can order. Once we ordered it took over an hour for us to receive our food. Larger and smaller tables that came in after us were constantly receiving food and have even paid and left. Now, obviously frustrated because our server hasn’t come back or checked on us. We spoke to the manager who also happen to be the hostess at the front. Our food was out a minute later. Everything was either cold, overcooked or undercooked. It’s like they literally forgot our food. I ordered lamb chops which I was so excited about and it was completely raw. I asked for medium well. The manager didn’t come to our table again, and I showed him the plate which I will attach here. He didn’t say much. He just took the plate back to the kitchen to show the chef. It ruined the whole night and nobody had eaten anything and everything was closed by then we went to bed hungry. He offered for us to come back the next night, but no one was interested. Unless you’re coming here for drinks,...
