Order: Blueberry hill (blueberries, vanilla ice cream), Province (Brie, ham, chives, caramelized walnuts and honey) Price: $33 Pro: Winner of the meal was the pancake/crepe itself, the cheese was amazing, ice cream was simple but delicious Con: A little on the expensive side but I feel like that’s the norm here so far tldr: Amazing crepe style pancakes but not cheap (worth it though) Thoughts: For breakfast on our second day in Aruba we drove into the downtown area to find Dutch style pancakes. These are basically crepes, very large and not thick like the traditional American style pancake. It did take some time to get there as the traffic in the area was a bit crazy but once we found the area parking wasn’t actually that bad. It was a beautiful day outside, so we took advantage of their awesome outdoor seating and soaked in the sun while we ate brunch. We ordered two “Dutch style” pancakes, one sweet and one savory. The Dutch style pancakes are essentially slightly thicker crepes that are as large as a dinner plate, or as my wife calls them, crepes made the right way. Also, just to be clear, they are listed as pancakes but I’m calling them crepes from here on out….because they’re crepes. The sweeter crepe was their blue berry hill and was covered in blueberries with a sizable, but not overwhelming, scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center. The blueberries were fresh, the ice cream was delicious, and its sweetness paired nicely with the slight tartness for the blueberries. But the real winner was the crepe itself. It was thin without being dense, sweet but not sugary tasting, moist without being a wet mess, and just dry enough that it had a bit of firmness to it. In a word, the crepe was perfect. The savory crepe was called the Provence, I honestly don’t know if that’s spelled right though so instead of worrying about it, I’ll just tell you about it. The same crepe as the blueberry one was instead topped with several slices of prosciutto ham, perfectly caramelized walnuts and three thick slices of creamy brie cheese. Dear father in heaven this cheese, it was so creamy it was heavenly; think room temperature butter. The taste was impeccable and everything on the plate elevated each other element. The honey drizzled over the whole crepe just drove everything home. On top of all this they have free Wi-Fi and the atmosphere is perfect for a lazy afternoon sitting around, soaking in the sun, and catching up on….not work, don’t do work in Aruba. But seriously, if you’re in Aruba you owe it to yourself to get over to Dutch Pancakes and get crepes; and seriously don’t do something silly like go here and not get the pancakes, it’s literally in the name. Get pancakes!

Dec2023: 5⭐: I would recommend this location and this restaurant crew. It's good to see that after 2 years, this restaurant location is still performing with its food quality and customer service. We got in line to wait for about 15 minutes. We were then seated and served hot entrees of good quality food. July 2021: 5⭐: I would recommend this location and this restaurant. I stopped by the Dutch Pancakehouse for breakfast/brunch with my spouse. We arrived at the location and found that there were about 16 people standing in line waiting to be seated. The wait time to be seated was about 45 minutes. After this waiting time, we were finally called to be seated. We sat for about five minutes before we placed our order with the server who had come to the table earlier to bring drinks. After about ten minutes, we received our order of two strawberry pancakes, hash browns and turkey sausages. My spouse initially said it was too much food, but was soon scraping the plate trying to get all of the remaining melting ice cream. Our server, Ghislaine, was very efficient, capable, and friendly. The workers inside the restaurant helped each other and brought all of our food to the table at one time. ALL of these workers were hustling to keep up with the customer's orders and customer needs. The food arrived hot and visually pleasing to the eye. We both ate all of our food.

Every time we passed this place, the line outside screamed, 'You need to eat here!' So we made it a mission to visit at least once—and ended up going three times; flipping fantastic experiences (don’t miss the pancake pun there)! On our first visit, we were greeted by a short line (less than 10 minutes). Uncaffeinated and bleary-eyed, we begged for coffee, and they blessed us with two fresh cups. Hallelujah! The menu looked so incredible, we felt like kids in a candy store. For our first trip, we went with a sweet and a savory dish to cover all bases. We also ordered poffertjes (Dutch mini pancakes with powdered sugar and butter) as a 'small' appetizer. These Moses-sized pancakes were divine. Seriously, the best mini pancakes I've ever had! The texture and consistency were out of this world, unlike the pancakes we make at home. For the sweet item, we chose the peach pancake, which arrived literally on fire! Talk about a grand entrance. On our second and third visits, we couldn't resist the Seaport Breakfast. It's like an American breakfast that went on a European vacation and came back with flair. So good, it's hard to put into words. The service was incredibly happy, friendly, and helpful. The food is delicious and worth every penny. Moses himself gives The Dutch Pancake House a resounding two staffs-up. Highly recommend!

This place is busy and deservedly so. Be prepared to wait in line at least 15 minutes if you are not willing to wake up early. I first had the Fruit Delight (15.50 US) which had bananas, strawberries, and blueberries topped with powdered sugar. What I have to say that the toppings were fully ripe, not sour at all. The pancake was well done with some heft. I was fully satisfied with this. Yet I knew wanted more .... What I ate accompanying this meal was the scrambled egg and toast with sausages (9.75 US). Eggs were fresh and of a good portion. The sausages were a bit shriveled up and lean, but I expected that. Also comes with a side of salad with that Aruba tomato/mayo dressing. Toast was good. My friend had a serving of bacon, and as typical it was very crispy because it was deep fried. I suspect they this is the way that restaurants do it on this island. I had a great time eating here, and it deserves all the praise given to it.

Back in Aruba to review the Dutch Pancakehouse. Well, we also came for the ocean and the beach. Anyway, set in a scenic and busy downtown location, you will surely encounter long lines to get in, for us, we were told 45 minutes to an hour. We opted for a take-out, which was roughly 30 minutes. The busyness of the location was felt on the service staff as well, they were short in their answers, hot and and tired…and it was only noon. The food was, okay. We opted for the savory crapes. They are not made with buckwheat, but with the same mixture they use for sweet crapes, therefore the crapes themselves will not be salty or sweet. (Ok, they are officially called Dutch pancakes, which might be just a tad thicker than crapes but it’s essentially the same!) Our crapes needed salt, though one was not provided for a take out. Poffertjes are bite size and were good with the strawberries and Nutella. $40 later, still a bit hungry to be honest.

So we went there cause my sister said we had to go there and try it and because reviews and Google say it's a 15 minute wait so we figured ok, we will wait (although places that require a wait are usually places I avoid). The food is great and you must try the poffertjes if you go and get the large as they are light, easy to eat and you will end up wishing you got the larger size one.. however the wait was 45 minutes and we went on a day that Google says it's less busy then other days at that time and the day before the line was longer then when we went. Based on what I saw, I can't imagine the wait being 15 minutes. I would say 30 if you are lucky when there is a line. Overall I enjoyed what we had, but I wouldn't tell anyone I know you have to try it because the wait isn't justified for me. Other people may be ok waiting, I am not. Search the internet for other places that offer poffertjes at those are good.
