't Ouwe Bruggetje — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Not worth the effort to visit. Went on a Friday evening as a SINGLE person and place was not busy. Told by someone in the kitchen (probably the chef manager), via the waitress, that there would be some people coming later although the waitress didn't expect this. Not a big place but I'm very knowledgeable of the restaurant scene and I know for that period that there will be tables available throughout the evening. Obviously they didn't think much of my custom (as a single person) and I believe very strongly in good attitude in preparation of good food. This place and kitchen management do not have a good attitude so not worth visiting as a tourist or business person. No problems with the waitress there. Anyway I went to Restaurant Aji instead in Rotterdam town centre which most local restaurant aficionadas will recognise as a far superior restaurant. Not big at all but very busy as expected. 't Ouwe Bruggetje is zo'n plek ❤️ Ik ging er zonder al te hoge verwachtingen naartoe, terwijl dit zwaar overtroffen werd. Het ontvangst en de bediening is ongedwongen, aandachtvol en persoonlijk. Zelden kom ik het tegen dat ik me zo welkom voel, met gepaste netheid zonder dat je je ongemakkelijk gaat voelen. Het eten was subliem. Wij aten hier op zondag, je krijgt dan een 'left-over' menu, wat zó lekker is, dat je bijna niet gelooft dat het left-overs zijn. Sublieme gerechten, mooie ingrediënten, sauzen goed op smaak en fijne porties qua hoeveelheid. Voor € 17,50 p.p. krijg je er een uitstekend (half glazen) wijnarrangement bij. Heel leuk dat er bij elke wijn een achtergrondverhaal komt, ik hou daarvan. Uiteindelijk betaalden we € 65 p.p. voor het 4 gangen menu met wijnarrangement, wat elke euro waard is.
