Came here on a Saturday for brunch, it was during their busy hours. They could have handled it better: staff was all running around constantly and it required effort to get any waiterâs attention for everything. Also, the Soul essence of the food wasnât thereâŠ. Iâve had a tastier brunch experience
Ordered: portobello burger, buckwheat pancakes, fresh orange juice, Ginger Kombucha, & gluten free chocolate chip cookie. Bill was over âŹ40.
As you can see in the photo the burger is quite small â the salad was tasty but the dish wasnât worth the âŹ15 âŠespecially because our table was RIGHT in front of where the kitchen was so we saw how everything was being made, when it was finished, and for how long each dish was sitting under a heat lamp. My burger was tasty but not warm inside anymore when I got it though the outside bun was warmed by the heat lamp (frankly I saw it sit there ready for at least 10 min). The pancakes also sat there ready for the waiter for even longer than 10 min and were all pre made (not freshly made to order). I expected much more considering the 4.5 rating, the look and design of the place â but frankly I could not recommend this spot based on my experience and would not come again đ âŠunless they really changed things for the better and I knew that for a fact.
I donât post reviews often but I should have taken the previous review (the one before mine from Dide Kahraman) more seriouslyâŠ. Dide was spot on đŻ Iâm posting my review so you reading can have another honest thorough review to consider before choosing to eat here or not đ
Additional comment to Bertmans after their reply/comment: If there was a manager present who was able to casually stop by each table for a few seconds to share that it was a first weekend for the team to prepare the fall menu and to have some patience for them â would have made a huge difference to the experience right away. I am also curious/excited to see what is on this fall menu too. I feel guests could have more compassion for the situation you described.
With regards to my comment about the pancakes being pre-made (I want to clarify that I donât intend to mean that they were made yesterday or hours ago for example but just not made to order⊠not made right after someone orders pancakes⊠so I hope that clarification helps). Pancakes arenât difficult to make to order?
As for the quality of organic ingredients and fresh ingredients â that is what I value most when I choose a place to eat out. That is also the biggest reason I was so excited to try Bertmans. I understand that prices all over the world have gone up but it comes down to this: the food could have come out much faster by a waiter to maintain the high quality and warmth of the...
Read moreMy visit was fine. We, as a family with a friend enjoyed our last visit âșïžđ, but, unfortunately it wasnât up to my expectationđ.
As I made a reservation, I expected a more organized way of welcoming us upon arrival. There was no assigned person on the reception, so you ask any waitress you meet, the one we met wasnât experienced, nor friendly. May be she was just busy, sorry đ.
The menu was confusing đ, even to our Dutch friend who was with usđ©.
No much food varieties for kids. So, I donât recommend it if you are going with teenagers or children for lunch or dinner. May be it is good for brunch or breakfast.
The food wasnât tasty in general, although they use healthy ingredients. I ordered a Hallomi cheese salad, some of the ingredients wasnât really matching with each other. My kids ordered a chicken burger, the presentation was vert prettyđđŒ, the taste was just ok. My daughter ordered goat cheese sandwich, it wasnât that good too.
On the other hand,
I loved the internal design of the restaurant đ„°, modern & stylish. I wished to stay inside, not on the terrace, but unfortunately it was hot inside, according to tge waitress, the AC was out of order.
The rest room was clean & nicely decorated.
I loved the fact that I can reserve online & when you send an email, you get a quick responseđ.
The rose lemonade was tasty, not very sweet, not very sour đđŒ. The soup of the day- was sweet potato soup, it was fine, the fries was yummy đ.
the waitress who served us was nice, but I wish if she assisted us more with...
Read moreThe ambiance here is really nice, and it's one of the few places where you can get a decent choice in terms of breakfast options. The drink menu is so varied and interesting, though not every drink I've had has been as delicious as it sounded. The mimosa is always a good choice, but the pumpkin latte was just not good. The pumpkin was too thick/chunky, even for using real pumpkin. The food is really quite good. I've liked, but not always loved, everything I've had so far. Modified eggs benny, pancakes, french toast, polenta fries, sweet potatoes... Also, it's a gezellig spot for adults for sure, but not super child friendly. The staff is incredibly child friendly and accommodating. The space itself just doesn't lend itself to smaller people or strollers, so keep that in mind. They also have coloring books and stuff, so be sure to ask for them (I was only aware of this after two visits). The changing room is an unlabeled room at the top of the stairs. Took me a while to figure that out as well. Maybe it's just me ;) I'll definitely be going back based on convenience of location, comfort of chairs and tables, menu options and atmosphere. I'll be checking out the Noord location as well, as it's closer...
