Worst service experience I ever had: The summary: I lost time, money, half a terabyte of files, and a mouse.
I asked them to replace my computer's SSD, and I ended up waiting weeks only to find that they deleted 500 GB of files (from another drive!). I asked for a refund, and I got a notification saying "refund reverted" because apparently they didn't finish the refund process...
When I left my computer at MediaMarkt, I specifically asked for a migration of the SSD and told them not to touch the HDD (as my computer has two drives). After a week passed with no news, I went back, only to find out they hadn't even started the process, or they had copied the wrong drive. They were never clear about what happened that week. I decided to leave a written note saying they had to copy the SSD and not touch the HDD. I repeated this several times and wrote it down myself because I noticed no one was taking notes or paying attention to what I was saying.
More time passed, and I had to go there several times just to get answers about what was going on. When I finally gave up and took my computer home (in the same state I had left it more than three weeks earlier), I found that the HDD (the drive I kept telling them not to touch) was completely empty... Half a terabyte of information was gone.
I went back to get a refund and a solution, they gave me the refound, but they didn't propose anything. I asked to speak to the manager, and they told me they would contact me to schedule a meeting. Of course, that never happened. A week later, I realized they also took the dongle of my wireless mouse... So now I need a new mouse as well.
And as if that weren't enough to be upset about, today I discovered that the refund I got is going to be reversed because they apparently didn't finish the refund process properly, so now I also have to waste time making sure this gets resolved.
Summary: I asked for the SSD to be copied and installed - I was told they copied the HDD by mistake or that they did nothing at all (I'll never know). I was told it would be a two-day job - More than three weeks passed without clear updates. I asked twice beforehand if the new drive I bought was compatible, and they said yes - After three weeks, I was told the drive wasn't compatible. I wanted to return the incompatible drive - They threw away the box. I tried calling several times for updates - No one ever called me back. I had to go there multiple times, wasting a lot of time, to finally get someone to call me with updates. Their solution to all of this was for me to buy a new and more expensive drive from them with only a 20€ discount. They deleted 500 GB of files from the drive I repeatedly asked them not to touch. Now I have a mouse without a dongle. The refund I received could be reversed as they apparently didn’t complete the process. New problem I have to take...
Read moreSo, complaint coming in ... Just bought new Xbox series s set with controller, came in yesterday, unpacked it, turned on, everything works nicely, exept the controller. Disappointed..
Today, I am driving to this mediamarkt to change it to a new one, it's in perfect shape but just doesn't function properly, LT button seems to be all the time on, I can't move down the menu or enything else, so basically not usable.
So, before going to service point, I asked this guy ( who was actually really nice ) from smart bar, to give me an opinion on this matter, he says yeah it definitely looks like a hardware failure so I should be able to get a new controller ( controller was with me ).
Nice, I think we can settle this right now, you know !?, new Xbox, just bought ( I had all the proof that it just came and also the condition of controller is perfect ) new controller, so shouldn't be eny questions.
BUT, apparently, I was very wrong, the service guy tells me that he needs to send it to Hardware check and only then they can provide me with a new one, or maybe the same controller!?!?!?!?!?
Are you serious? Mediamarkt? Service point? I just bought it !?!?!??! I asked the guy is this really how you work? He didn't really give me an answer, just sayed that it is all he can do ....
I have question for you Mediamarkt! How would you feel if you just bought a new car, just out from saloon, and you start driving it and you just feel that your steering wheel gouse to the left all the time, so you basically can't drive, so you go back to the dealer and tell him this, and he says to you that we will take your steering wheel for inspection and come back to you later some day ... ? So you can't driver your newly bought car !?!?
I am so annoyed, I wasted my time and nerves becuse of so simple thing, is it so hard for you to get screen and xbox to check it straight away ? Even if you don't see the problem !?
I know that you don't care about one person, you have millions of guys like me probably, but still, this shows how unprofessional you are, at least at service points.
I can tell one thing, I will never buy enything again from you, I was a client for a long time, but after this, never again, you guys, are not reliable and I am definitely going to spred the word
This is clearly only my experience for all of you others out there, so take care, and I hope you guys won't experience it as I did
By the way, I still don't know if I will get the same or new controller...
Read moreUnnecessarily Complicated Purchase Process
I was not allowed to open the laptop in-store to check the keyboard before buying.
I was told I had to order the laptop online and then collect it from the same store half an hour later, which I do not understand.
Poor Service and Lack of Customer Friendliness
Most staff members I interacted with were unfriendly and unhelpful (with only two exceptions).
I purchased two additional services: Microsoft Word and data transfer. This led to further delays and extra waiting time.
Long Delays and Inefficiency
I had to wait twice for over 30 minutes at the “Smartbar” to be assisted.
The data transfer did not work after three hours.
I had to come back the next day, but was told it would take even longer. My old laptop had to remain in the store so that my data could be moved to an external hard drive first, and then to the new laptop. The service of my new laptop got scratched by the youbgman who helped me. The workingspace is verry unorganised and there is technical stuff everywhere.
Unsafe Situation in the Store
While waiting, I was approached by an aggressive man (appearing to be under the influence of cocaine) who was also frustrated with the long wait.
I felt scared and unsafe.
No security personnel were present.
The situation ended only because the staff member working on my computer decided to help him first to calm him down — which also felt unfair.
Poor Internal Communication
I could not return the next day, so I called the general MediaMarkt number to request a note be placed in the system, as I was worried my old laptop might get lost.
I was told this would be done, but it was not.
Fortunately, when I later came to the store, my old laptop was still there — purely by chance.
Rude and Disrespectful Behaviour
At the counter, a male staff member spoke over me in a dismissive tone while I was already talking to his colleague.
He told me, in a very unpleasant and unprofessional way, that not all data could be transferred in the same way to the new laptop.
In summary: I have never experienced such a combination of inefficiency, rudeness, and lack of safety in a store. The entire process has caused me unnecessary stress, wasted my time, and made me feel unsafe.
