Ordered in. The first attempt I noticed order itself was prepared and finished quickly but the delivery person from (Thuisbezorgd) was cycling throughout the entire city, to arrive at my doorstep say 40 minutes later with (very) cold food as a result. I can't really blame the delivery person since it's Thuisbezorgd routing the orders.
Regardless, I called Diego's to express my disappointment to which I was told by Diego's to order again and we'd get the details sorted.
Second order arrived swiftly.
The burger itself: A+. A beauty to look at and tasted amazing. Nice bun, brioche, toasted and not too small, juicy (plain meat) patties with exactly the right level of doneness, awesome condiments and neither too much nor too little.
Usually I like my burgers simple because then you can't hide the bad overall quality and mediocre meat with cheese or condiments, besides that; it's not easy to make a simple burger taste great.
So, often you see all kinds of gruesome creations like patties with spices in them, "Italiaanse bol" as the bun, dutch (young) cheese, you name it. That's not a burger!
Diego's burgers on the other hand; prove you can make awesome, balanced creations with quality ingredients. Simple where it needs to be simple (the meat patty, the bun) with a touch of creativity resulting in excellence as a whole.
Easily the best burger in town you can order in. By far, especially considering the prices. I dare you to find a better burger, ordered in for the same price you'd pay at Diego's.
The fries: well I mean they were good but who cares about the fries, it's all about the burger.
So: end...
Read moreI have been eating at Diego's since the restaurant opened. I was somewhat disappointed in my first visit (I was not a fan of the bugles burger), but things got much better after a few changes in the menu. The BFF and the Krispie Chicken, both sadly gone now, were absolutely fantastic. Of note, the BFF is temporarily back, so it's an excellent chance to try it for those who missed it. Other burgers currently available are excellent as well, though personally I find the chicken less tasty and crunchy than before. In any case, I must applaud the creative spirit that drives Chef Diego to continuously innovate -- even if that comes with some occasional missteps.
My experiences in the restaurant have been, for the most part, entirely satisfactory. In fact, I rank it consistently among the best 3 burger restaurants in Rotterdam. Why the low score, then? Unfortunately, the burgers delivered via Uber Eats are absolutely mediocre: the bread is dry and has the texture of something bought in the supermarket, the meat is tasteless and the toppings are scarce. I first noticed it a couple of months ago, but I thought it was a one-time thing until today, when I had the Spicy Crispy Chicken. This used to be different, but at this moment the burgers from Uber Eats have nothing to do with what one can eat at...
Read moreWe ordered Mocktails from off-menus and the mixologist were able to accommodate to our needs.
Food Pros - Burger buns were delicious, and meat were cooked to medium rare (as requested), variety of burger choices but still maintain the burger essence without having being drowned by unnecessary toppings and sauces. The side dishes were delicious too! We ordered the Parmesan wings, Mac and cheese and the shrimp croquettes and were all great.
Food Cons - although the Mac and Cheese was good, my only concern that the truffle cheese sauce was slightly colder to my liking eventhough the melted cheese on the top is warm. So it kind of affected the experience (not sure it has to be warm or cold). Same as for the wings, good flavour but was slightly cooler to my liking. Perhaps warmer plate to overcome this?
Overall, would def recommend to go especially when the house service was good and the foods are delicious. The atmosphere is great too! Mind you, they switch their menus too! Love the creative...
