Los Toros — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Sometimes fate smiles down on you and your culinary journeys. My boyfriend and I had been traveling all afternoon and sauntered past this restaurant with luggage in tow. We saw the sign that said 'Best Steak In Town' and thought...well I wonder if the sign is true! As we had been on the go for a while, the priority was to get to our hotel and then sort out dinner. After getting settled for a bit, we realised we were quite hungry! Many discussions were had but we couldn't shake the feeling that we would be missing out if we didn't have some of the best steak in all of Rotterdam. Off we went to get some steak and see what the fuss was all about. Having been in Amsterdam all week, we had experienced pretty bad service in almost every establishment we went to. Thankfully Los Toros was the exact opposite and we had excellent service from the moment we stepped in. They definitely outshone their 3.9 rating on Google according to us. We enjoyed the steak and sides and the great service. We walked in seeing the special deal sign on the outside, which had two options. We asked about the deal. The restaurant staff informed us that the deal is available. We sat down at a table in the corner and the same staff came to our table for taking orders. The deal wasn't available on the menu so, he communicated the options to us verbally which we selected from.

The furniture inside was quite old, but well maintained. There was however a strange smell inside which we weren't sure about the source of.

We were served by several different people in the restaurant and they were nice in general.

The dishes were okay, but we thought it was acceptable considering the price.

When we asked for the bill, we were shocked, because the bill was significantly higher than we expected. Turns out, the first staff who served us made us order a more expensive option. We wanted to ask for an explanation, however the staff wouldn't accept any responsibility.

When we entered there was a weird smell in the restaurant. So the atmosphere is not on point. We were helped by the elderly restaurant staff. He kept asking us to order more drinks and side dishes. Which was uncomfortable. We entered to the restaurant for the Menu 1 and he gave us a more expensive menu which is menu 3 without informing us. He was inpatient and lacked communication skills. He didn't explain what we were ordering or he was changing our order. I was never treated this bad in a restaurant. Very disappointed with the service.
