My friend and I reserved a table for a beautiful lunch at this restaurant. We had a special menu for this Saturday and Sunday, a bit unexpected as I wanted to try the escargot.
Anyway, when seated the special menu was presented with a special theme "fruit de mere." The menu targets couples or group of people. If you would eat alone: this is not the place to be. Most main dishes (the better ones) are for two people. When asked, they replied that an individual could take 2 appetizers and some side dishes. Extremely out-of-date, so this will definitely need improvement and they should change the menu, or close and leave the city. This unfair treatment of single diners us not from this time.
Anyway, generally the food was nice, so no complaints about the quality. We requested a salad which was not on this special menu, but is normally on their regular menu, and they kindly prepared a tasty tomato - fruity salad, which was the highlight of the lunch.
Service was a bit messy: one young friendly waitress was clearly inadequately coached. Food was brought in parts, and not together as asked and promised. Fries were served with on top of a part of it some mayonnaise (and only when asked they brought a separate cup with mayonnaise, the normal way of serving fries in a restaurant (otherwise one just can go to Bram Ladage). Table was small so we had to request few times to take the empty plates and glasses so at least some decent room is available for eating. Though generally staff was friendly and responsive to our requests.
So a reasonable experience but very doubtful if we would go back or recommend. The treatment of single diners with little options in the menu...
Read moreI visited Louise Petit Restaurant in Rotterdam to celebrate my birthday, drawn by its reputation as an authentic Parisian bistro, as highlighted on their website. The ambiance promised a charming French experience with classic dishes, and I was eager to try it out.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the beef ribs, which were incredibly tasty and melt-in-your-mouth soft—perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Our waitress elevated the experience further with her friendly and attentive service. She took the time to guide us through the wine menu, recommending a bottle that paired beautifully with our meal, showcasing the restaurant’s focus on quality French cuisine and wine.
However, the evening wasn’t without its downsides. The restaurant was extremely noisy and crowded, which detracted from the intimate bistro vibe I expected based on their description of a “cozy” setting. A group of over 20 people at the next table were constantly shouting, making it hard to enjoy our conversation. By the end of the night, I left with a headache from the overwhelming noise.
Overall, while the food and service were stellar, the chaotic atmosphere made it challenging to fully enjoy my birthday celebration. I’d recommend Louise Petit for its delicious dishes and warm staff, but perhaps visit on a quieter night to truly savor...
Read moreA little French restaurant separated into 2 areas: dinner and brunch/lunch, also separated terraces. The view of the terraces is magnificent and relaxing. When beautiful weather, it is great to sit outside in the terrace. Do keep in mind smokers are allowed on the terraces. So if you want to avoid smokers, don’t sit next to the road, but more further away in the terrace.
There is a lot to choose from the drink menu, like different kinds of tea and coffee, even juices and healthy mix drinks etc. So we tried several drinks.
The brunch/lunch menu, even the breakfast choices are really good, lots to choose from. And everything tasted very good and filling. We will definitely come back for more as well to try out the dinner area another time. They are also child friendly, except the smoking area next to the road.
After lunch we took a walk next the harbour and up to the park (Het Park), which was very nice after a...
