Maruki is not just a restaurant — it's a heartfelt experience that sets a new, refreshing standard for Muslim-friendly dining. From the moment you step in, it’s clear that every detail has been thoughtfully designed to reflect quality, inclusivity, and integrity.
The food is outstanding. Every dish is crafted using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients — you can truly taste the difference in every bite. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates well-prepared meals, Maruki delivers both flavor and freshness on every plate.
What truly sets Maruki apart is how deeply it respects and caters to the needs of its Muslim guests. The space includes a clean and comfortable wudu and prayer area, creating a peaceful environment that encourages mindfulness and community. There is no background music, which enhances the calm ambiance, and upon request, guests can receive a copy of the Quran — a beautiful and thoughtful touch.
Maruki also takes a strong, principled stand by openly supporting Palestine. The restaurant has committed not to sell any products on the BDS boycott list, and this ethical transparency is both admirable and rare in today’s hospitality scene.
Lastly, the owner is a gem — genuinely friendly, humble, and deeply committed to providing guests with not just a meal, but a meaningful experience. You leave Maruki not only full but also inspired.
Highly recommended for anyone who values delicious food, integrity, and a welcoming, spiritually mindful atmosphere. Maruki is more than a restaurant — it’s a place...
Read moreArrived at Maruki without a reservation, as under 6 people does not require one. My family and I were prepared to wait as we were excited to try out this restaurant. After 5 minutes of waiting at the door, as many waiters walked by, we were told a table would soon become available. This was fine, however in a fairly empty restaurant, with many side seats available, my family and I stood at the door for 30 minutes without any waiter approaching us again, not even to to update on a table. They could have allowed us to sit at the side tables while we waited , which were not reserved, as many people who came after us were given seats there. While watching my tired kids , now sitting on the floor, after standing for 35 minutes, i decided to leave. This had nothing to do with waiting, but more about about courtesy. We did not feel welcome, there wasn't a single smile from the waiters. I'm sure the food is great and the atmosphere is nice, but it doesn't make up...
Read moreAmazing addition to the Rotterdam foodscape, so glad this finally opened! A Japanese restaurant where the food is without a doubt halal (no uncertain halal status) and even better, they also serve ethical drinks!
Only note I'd have, it would be nice to have some more vegetarian / vegan menu items, especially ramen / donburi (just one option would make all the difference!) Whilst the halal meat / seafood dishes should obviously be the overwhelming focus of the restaurant, it does make it more difficult to eat here for those who don't eat meat, seeing as there are no veg mains at this moment (there is 1 sushi roll and 4 sides). Of course, there are other restaurants that offer these alternatives, but it would help accommodate larger, diverse groups to eat here as well.
Not sure about the flexibility of the restaurant by requesting an alternative on the spot (ex. vegetables instead of meat in a don), so if this is no problem, please...
