Restaurant Munzur — Restaurant in Rotterdam

The punchline: I dreamt about the meal I ate here. This is the first place I will come back to when I am next in the city.

Restaurant Munzur is a Rotterdam hidden gem. It looks like a humble storefront, right in the middle of the city. When you sit down…you might get that sense.

But from the first bite of the night…you forget all that…

Free starter bread is unreal. Munzur special: all the cuts, so flavorful and tender, served with rice and some slaw (pro tip: Unsure of what to get, choose this) If you are privy to a drink: can’t go wrong with Efes (Turkish beer).

Today, I went to this place for a walk-in visit and mentioned that I would be very pleased if they could arrange a table for us. However, I was turned away at the door. I acknowledge that going without a reservation was a mistake, and it's perfectly understandable if they were fully booked. Still, the communication I had with a staff member, who appeared to be middle-aged, was unfriendly, lacked empathy, and was overall displeasing to me. The value for money is bad compared to other Turkish restaurants. We ordered mix grill for two people for 48 €. The mix was also not very good and it is the first time we get one skewer (per person) with two meat pieces and two chicken pieces on it. In all other restaurants, we got a skewer of meat and another one of chicken. The taste was not bad except for the kofte (/burger). The salad and bread were fresh and good.

We have also ordered fries, but got the fast food thin ones, not homemade or at least a higher quality as you would expect in such a place and for the...
