I have been coming to booon for 4 years now and have always been pleased with the food, service, atmosphere and especially the coffee 😋😋. I visited last week and had a unexceptional experience which has left a sour taste in my mouth. We arrived early, were greeted by a server and seated. One of the first tables there. We received our drinks in a timely manner. No rush because it was the weekend but we were hungry. After that we had to wait 30 minutes after to get the attention of the staff. It got busier but there were 4 staff on duty. After I went in to check. They said they would be right out. Another 15 minutes and the server mentioned a miscommunication and the “egg cook time”. Even with extreme hunger, our sandwiches were thrown together and not the booon sandwiches I love! I have worked in a restaurant. I get the rush, sometimes people are forgotten. However this should be addressed and then you make sure you provide them exceptional service for the rest of their stay. After eating I asked for the bill. 10 minutes I had to go inside and get it myself. Then the bill was all wrong. We sorted it out. Then the server told me I couldn’t have my points because the iPad wasn’t connected. She didn’t even try and fix it. I was able to connect. All in all. I didn’t have a great visit. Maybe it was just a one off bad experience as I have had countless good ones at Booon. I am not willing to write off the place, hence my rating. I hope this is taken to heart and viewed as a point of improvement, not...
Read moreCan't comment on the food since I never got to try it - 0 stars for the service though. Walked in and sat down at a table, despite seeing three staff members working, not a single one acknowledged me. After waiting a while, I went to look at their croissant selection, thinking surely someone would help me then. Nope, still completely ignored. Finally gave up and left after several minutes. Look, I get it - this might be just another Dutch café that doesn't need to worry about customer service given the current horeca situation here, but come on, this is just unprofessional. Btw, a word of advice to the guy preparing bread: maybe cover your mouth when you cough instead of doing it right over the bread slices?
PS: just replying to the owner, who apparently misinterpreted my review as "racist". What I meant is that horeca is generally doing so well in the Netherlands that you don't clearly need to invest in good customer service. You lose a customer? There'll be plenty of others in line to get a coffee...
Read moreA lovely cafe with great outdoor seating, clean toilets, good service, tasty food and great streetviews.
I ordered an aperol spritz and a 'aperitivo' assortment of tuna, slices of Gouda cheese, various meats, olives and slices of bread. The selection was was what you would expect with the exception of fennel infused salami, it is an acquired taste but interesting. The tuna was fresh and the olives were very green and contained a nut.
The aperol was different than how I would make it. I usually add a bit of orange juice to make it sweeter. It also adds to the orange colour. But it is a decent one.
The cafe is popular and it is a perfect setting to have a cup of coffee or a beer...
