Excellent service, beautiful presentation of the dishes, but we were a little disappointed in the food itself (and especially for the price). Perhaps we just went for the wrong choices but we found the starter, pasta and gnocchi all lacking in flavour. I think that if the chef added a little more of the "extras", e.g. more than just a few drops of mayonnaise with the tuna, a little more sauce with the pasta, more gorgonzola with the gnocchi, more coulis with the pistachio semi-freddo, it might make all the difference. These ingredients are basically used for decoration, but one should also be able to enjoy them a bit more. The tuna tartare with mango was good, but again lacking in taste/flavours and the croutons inside were chewy and not fresh and crunchy, which suggests that the dish was prepared ahead of time. On the other hand, the white house wine was very good (and good price/quality ratio). I was less pleased with having to pay around 7.50 for a bottle of water. In Canada, there is usually a carafe of tap water on the table; I wish we would adopt that policy...
Read moreI am going to start by saying that all the food we had was amazing.
However, the treatment by the woman that welcomed us at the door was not at the same level as the food, or as the service we got from the rest of her colleagues, which was great as well.
We arrived at the time of our reservation. When we opened the door, we clearly saw that there was a line of people, so we let the woman behind the counter know that we had a reservation, thinking that maybe all those people didn’t, and her reply was: “I know”, with an incredibly mean face.
We had to wait standing up for 30’ for our table, even though we had booked, and nobody “in line” was offered a single drink / glass of water while we were waiting for the first 20’. After we were waiting for 20’ we got offered a glass of house wine, which they had the audacity to include in our bill. It’s not about the 9€ for each glass of wine, but about the gesture.
Conclusion = great food, great service by most of the personnel, but bad experience overall. Would...
Read moreAs an Italian, living in the Netherlands, I am always cautious about dining at Italian restaurants, but Nerello exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported back to Italy, not just by the ambiance but by the authenticity of the food.
The menu at Nerello is a celebration of Italian culinary tradition and every dish we tried was just tasty and made with great ingredients.
The wine list is thoughtfully curated, and the staff was knowledgeable in recommending the perfect pairings.
What made the experience even more special was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. They made me feel like family, and that’s what truly defines a great Italian dining experience. The passion for food, the attention to detail were evident.
Nerello is a little slice of Italy in Rotterdam. Whether you are Italian or simply a lover of authentic Italian cuisine, this is a must-visit. I will...
