Arrogant service, unpleasant ambience, dirty tables, and overpriced poor food. It had great potential, though.
We have been two times at Rolph's deli and we are not coming back. The first time was right after the opening. we were not very satisfied: smoothies tasted artificial, bread was lacking flavour and texture. The dessert was good. The service was the worst from the whole experience: plenty of unexperienced arrogant waiters. However in spite of having so many waiters you have to order at the counter.
We decided to give it a second time to see if it had improved over the first months. We had hoped as the owners run a nice restaurant some meters away . But it was not the case. The experience was even worse. The waiter send us to a table that was already taken ( it looked empty because the couple was ordering at the counter ). So we had to leave the table and we were asked to wait in freezing in the entrance (the doors were wide ooen), we got a table and the waiter had not cleaned it. We complained. No success. They brought our coffees to the dirty table. The bread of the sandwich seemed like microwave-unfrozen, the sauce camouflaged the flavour of the meat. The milk of the coffe tasted very strange (I got stomach problems after). The music was like being in a discotheque. And the 3 waiters we dealt with were nasty, arrogant and incompetent.
Truly unpleasant experience and...
Read moreAverage food and very rude staff. With a half full restaurant we had waited for 35 minutes for the pancakes and other dishes. On our first request after 20 minutes the staff was only reacting: it is coming.... After 30 minutes we ask again and we were told that we are not the only customer in the restaurant and have to wait agian. I think the whole staff need to be trained in hospitality! This is not the way to deal with your customers. The kitchen staff was fully occupied so there was no reason to have to wait over 30 minutes to get a simple dish a a pancake. The food was average and the coffee wasn't at a decent temperature. A lot needs to be...
Read moreWas lured by the impression of a NY-style deli type of experience, only to find a typical, overly-stylized, "insta-worthy" brunch place with high prices and disappointing service. Admittedly (and regrettably), it is one of the only places in town where you can find a pastrami sandwich. But having an over-priced pastrami melt on the menu (along with some bagels), doesn't really make it a "deli". Instead of aiming for that unique concept, it mostly falls into the classic hipster fare of smoothies, avo toast, poached eggs and acai bowls. Perhaps a safe choice... but I'm still waiting for a real deli in...
