My boyfriend and I visited St. Maarten a few months ago and glad we made the decision one evening to eat at LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL based on a recommendation from a waitress at another restaurant. We were soooooo happy we took the recommendation because let me tell you the food at LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL was absolutely scrumptious and the service was top notch. If you visit St. Maarten or you are a local YOU MUST add this restaurant to your list of places to visit...I promise you your tummy and taste bud will not be disappointed.

The 1st night we visited we opted to sit at the bar and to our pleasant surprise the bartender, Jordan, was also the owner at this family owned restaurant. He was so friendly and personable which added to our amazing experience. He even gave us our drinks on the house that evening which was very kind. As I write this review my mouth is watering as I reminisce on the meal we had that evening. I had the grilled red snapper with the garlic butter sauce, red beans and rice, fried plantains, and potato salad...let me tell you...DELISH. I remember telling Jordan that I had the best red snapper on my visit to Puerto Rico, well I’ve now added LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL to my best red snapper list. I’ll even go a step further and add this restaurant to my best seafood list. I must tell you about the red beans and rice...so yummy and flavorful. FYI when we visited the red beans and rice was served on Tuesday/Thursday not sure if that changed. My boyfriend, who is not a seafood lover like myself, had the grilled tuna with the garlic butter, potato salad, and fried plantains and to this day he still raves about how much he enjoyed that tuna. I tasted his tuna and I'm in total agreement...the tuna was on point.

Our initial experience was so awesome that I opted to visit LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL for my birthday lobster dinner a couple days after my initial visit and let me tell you Jordan and his staff made my birthday celebration one to remember. Jordan had “our seats” at the bar reserved which was a plus. He had my live fresh lobster waiting for me to pick out and once I picked it out it was cooked to perfection. My lobster was grilled and drenched with the garlic butter, served with the must have red beans and rice, fried plantains, and a side salad. One of the best lobsters I've had and as a seafood lover I’ve had my share of lobsters. Oh let me not forget the OMG scrumptious garlic bread we were served as we waited for our dinner...be sure to order the garlic bread. My boyfriend wasn’t that hungry so he ordered the burger. I didn’t think much of his burger when he ordered it, but what a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend really enjoyed his burger and so did I. I normally don’t order burgers, but I would order a burger from LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL. Jordan and the staff even surprised me with a cake and sang happy birthday...it was truly an experience I will never forget.

Your St. Maarteen vacation will not be complete without visiting LEE’S ROADSIDE BAR & GRILL...GREAT FOOD, AWESOME PEOPLE, GOOD VIBES. We can’t wait to visit again when we go back to St. Maarten in the...

Total tourist trap. We have been coming to sxm for almost 30 years and have never had such a bad experience as here. We were staying across the street and saw the place always crowded so we decided to give it a try even though we saw a limited menu on line. We should have skipped. Tried the ribs and they were perhaps the worst I have ever tried and by far the worse I’ve ever had in the islands. I hadn’t eaten all day so I really tried to satisfy my hunger. I ate all the very good salad and the so so plantains but really couldn’t finish those ribs. They had no flavor and the barbecue sauce they give you on the side could only go so far to make the dried pieces of shoe leather go down. When I told the waiter he was more than happy to do something but the manager could not care less. Never came over to the table. No apology just told the waiter to tell me you ate half of them. Yes I tried to eat half the ribs but could not finish any of them and didn’t even attempt the remaining half. Wasnt looking for a full refund - even an apology would have been the source of a manager who cares. Again a true tourist trap. Would never...

Don't waist your time, find something else. First: no wifi working Second: very slow. Despite the fact that were 3 waiters, I spent more than 3 hours to have a dinner ordered and consumed. Third: mediocrity. I asked for the bill. Total 26. Wrote with a pen +4=30. I asked for what? For the service. OK man, let me to tell you about your service: I asked for one wisky with one rock/cube of ice. You brought to me a glace full of ice. I asked you to tell me what fish, entire, on grill, I can order. Based on your recommendation I received some file. Good, but nothing special. You told me to use ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise from the basket which was on the table entire day. I am crazy? Those things need to be in a fridge, not on a table, all day, at 40 degrees. I asked you half an hour ago to make the check. No, no, no, it...

Squarely mediocre. We were excited to try Lee's Roadside Grill - the vibrant atmosphere beaconed us from the road. While the service is good, the food is not very good. The coconut shrimp appetizer was the worst that I've had. Ribs were dry, chicken was decent. Pan fried Wahoo was not bad. Rice and beans is interesting here, white rice with a side of Hormel chili beans - not what I was expecting and certainly not what I would have ordered had I known. While we were there, we noticed that the two tables on either side of us STIFFED their servers of their tips because YOU CANNOT TIP on CREDIT CARDS here. There is no warning of this and it's a shame that the hard working staff is being left without their well-deserved gratuity.
