We would highly recommend the rum distillery tour as a fun thing to do. We booked the tour online and arrived fifteen minutes before the start time. We checked in at reception and were offered a rum punch which was delicious. Our tour guide, Ash then introduced herself. At this point we realised we were the only two people on the last tour of the day from 5.30 - 7pm. Ash was great, she explained the history of rum with some interesting facts. She was also interested in us and asked us many questions about our country. She offered us plenty of rum shots along the way while she talked us through the distilling and bottling processes. We didn't expect a cooking demonstration but it added to the fun when Ash asked my husband to cook a chicken fillet and pineapple dish with coconut, rum and spices. It was delicious and also accompanied by more rum shots and rum ice cream. The tour ended with a rum tasting session including all our favourites from the tour. I think the tour would have been better in a larger group, it also finished 30 minutes early probably because we were such a small group but we left feeling slightly tipsy and both agreed it was a great way to spend an hour

A must-visit for anyone visiting the island. The BBQ ribs came highly recommended by our waitress, and I am glad we took the suggestion! We returned on our last night on the island where we endulged even more. We shared the Toppers tuna, then my husband enjoyed a perfectly cooked New York Strip while I had the crab-stuffed mahi mahi. Even though we were full, we had to get dessert. The Chocolate Fix and Da Banana went down easily! If you're looking for a way to curb your sweet tooth during the day, stop up front for some gelato. We also did the distillery tour, and our tour guide, Christina, was fantastic! It was just the right combination of history, the rhum making process, and of course, plenty of rhum samples. We took home quite a few rhum cakes! Last but not least, Topper, the owner, clearly loves what he does, so be sure to talk with him if you get the chance!

Great meal with awesomely strong drinks. The beer, painkiller, and ultimate margaritas were top notch. Our server even brought us over free samples of different flavored rum. After a couple of half shots and some drinks we were ready for food which did not disappoint. The fish and chips, hot pastrami sandwich, and the gnocchi in a vodka cream sauce with chicken and spinach were all fantastic. Would highly recommend this place and we will return on our next trip. The owner himself who is now 87 was sitting off to the side when we walked in and we told him it was another great meal. Some pictures are of the scenery from the restaurant. *A few days before we stopped in for some gelato for dessert after eating at another place down the road and that was delicious too! We could not fit in any gelato this time as we were too full from our meal.

Our party of four made reservations for Saturday night. It turned out, we did not need reservations, as there were many empty tables. Once we sat down, the circus began. We were waited on by at least three different waiters and none of them seemed to be the least bit interested in making our first dining experience at Toppers a memorable occasion. In fact, I doubt that any of us plan on going back. It took a very long time to get our drinks and food. It also took a very long time to get our bill and check out. We were there for an hour and 45 minutes and they were not busy at all--I can't imagine what happens if they get busy.

Two of us ordered French onion soup. What we got, came in a very large shallow bowl and was barely warm. Shredded cheese of some type was sprinkled over the dark liquid. There was a tiny round of French bread with a little more cheese on it floating in the large shallow pond of onion flavored brown liquid. The taste of the soup was not terrible, but it probably would have been better if the liquid was warm enough to melt the cheese or if there was enough cheese to coat the surface. I ordered beef brisket, which had a good flavor but was very tough to chew. My wife ordered a scallop dish which was excellent, very tasty and a nice presentation. As for the other couple with us, the wife had a hamburger platter that was mediocre at best, except the French fries were mushy and the burger was overcooked. The husband had a "hanging skewer" of shrimp which was very good.

All in all, not the best dining experience in our two weeks on the island. We will not...

I usually don’t write reviews, but feel that i need to give my honest opinion and share my recent experience with any future potential patrons of Toppers Restaurant in St. Maarten. I read reviews prior to choosing this restaurant and saw that many people like this place. My experience, to the contrary, was anything but favorable. My family and I stopped by for lunch on the way to the airport. We were greeted by the owner who told us their daily specials. The air conditioner in the main hall was broken making it uncomfortably hot. We were moved to an outside table. There the table cloth was dirty, but the waitress insisted she can’t change it because it’s fastened to the table. We ordered our food and proceeded to wait. Forty minutes later, my wife and son received steaks that smelled and tasted rotten. My other son’s burger had hair in it. My wife ordered toast instead. Twenty minutes later, the toast never arrived and we decided to leave. With an attitude, the waitress said she’s alone waiting on tables and bartending. She doesn’t have time! If they are understaffed, why should that be the patrons fault?? But she continued to argue with us. Notwithstanding same, she included a 15% tip into our bill. The owner never came out to make right of the situation or apologize. We were running late for our flight so we ended up paying for food we didn’t eat and left hungry. Surely never coming back to...

Went to toppers tonight for the first time for karaoke with a group of friends. We had an excellent time overall. With at first just a few minor hiccups which trufully could be overlooked, ie soup coming cold and drinks arriving really late as the bartender admitted he forgot to make (mistakes happen). Greg was truly a great karaoke host and we definitely enjoyed that aspect to the fullest.

Unfortunately the night ended really poorly as when we got our bill I noticed an error. I went to the bartender/cashier Ryan and explained the issue to him, he first went to fix the issue but when I realized he didn't understand what I was telling him was wrong he became very combative and rude with me. Admitidly there was a large group of us and the issue, which in my eyes was very simple ended up turning into a literal argument between him and I to resolve, something which I believe should never happen. To make matters worse when my friends went to pay their bill he told one of them "next time don't bring your stupid friends", which to me this is completely unacceptable. Again, this was so disappointing because up until this point we really had an excellent time and just wanted to pay our bill and go home happy.

Would I go back to toppers? Yes. If i walked in and saw Ryan would I walk...
