Read moreService was rude and unprofessional. The restaurant was almost empty, yet we waited nearly an hour for food. Definitely not worth the price. Worst dining experience we had in The Hague☹️☹️☹️

Thank you for your reply.
We ordered the fish of the day and another dish, I don’t recall the exact name on your menu, but it was pork-based. Our comments are not about the food, but rather about the surprisingly rude service we experienced.
When we arrived, we saw a sign at the entrance asking customers to wait outside. Although the waitress saw us, she didn’t come to greet or let us in, even though there were only two other clients dining at the time. After waiting for quite a while, someone finally came to the door. When we asked if the restaurant was still open, we were told, “You should come inside directly, not wait here.” We replied that the sign specifically instructed us to wait outside, but this was dismissed.
Once seated, we were immediately asked what we wanted to drink without being given a menu. When we asked what options were available, we were told vaguely, “beer, cocktails, etc.” We ordered a beer and asked about the cocktail choices. The waiter seemed visibly annoyed by our questions, then finally handed us the drink menu and walked away.
The same happened with the food menu, it was a bit confusing, and we had to wait again to ask for explanations. We eventually chose the two-course lunch menu (main course + dessert). However, despite being the only table in the restaurant, it took almost an hour to receive the main course.
Later, the waiter asked what dessert we wanted, but we couldn’t remember the available options. Instead of offering suggestions, especially knowing that we ordered the two-course menu (main course + dessert) we were told, “If you want dessert, I can give you the menu again.” Given the unprofessional and dismissive attitude throughout the meal, we decided to skip dessert and leave.
It was unfortunately not a pleasant experience for us, whether you agree with our...
Read moreI discovered Restaurant de Basiliek in the Michelin guide and had eagerly anticipated trying it for a while. On a Friday night, my family and I visited the restaurant to celebrate Chloe’s birthday. My initial impression was of its lively atmosphere, with people gathered on the terrace, holding wine glasses and engaged in pleasant conversations amidst delightful background music. I opted for the menu of the day (a three-course menu) and ordered an orangecello spritz for drinks. Codfish Cannelloni with tomato and lemon foam The starter looked appetizing, and the combination of tomato and the lemon foam added a refreshing touch to the dish. The codfish had a mild flavour with a delicate, slightly sweet taste, though the only minor issue was the slightly rough texture of the codfish skin. Pork Loin with a celery jus and beetroot Starting with the beetroot, it had a sweet and earthy flavour with a slightly bitter aftertaste that paired perfectly with the pork loin. The staff informed us that the pork loin came from Spanish Iberian ham. While it tasted good initially, I found it a bit greasy after a few bites. Melon gazpacho with vanilla and tarragon The dessert was both memorable and delicious. It became a lively celebration as the staff brings it in while singing the birthday song. As for beverages, I would advise against ordering the orangecello spritz I chose, despite its appealing appearance. The orange flavour was overly and reminiscent of medicine. On the other hand, the Gnarly Zinfandel my parents ordered was truly delightful, offering a pleasant balance of sweetness and sourness. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Restaurant de Basiliek, especially if you are seeking a cozy dining experience in the heart...
