Entering Geonbae Sojubar, a vibrant Korean restaurant in Den Haag, I was immediately struck by the inviting ambiance. With vibrant colors and a lively atmosphere, the place sets the perfect stage for a Korean culinary adventure.
I sampled four types of Korean fried chicken. The Original, while plain, was okay. The Geonbae Special had a flavor reminiscent of the Korean sauce often found on kimchi—a taste that may not be for everyone, but certainly recommended for those who enjoy it. The Spicy Sweet was a delightful blend of spice and sweetness, with a creamy texture that elevated the experience. The Onion Cheese also stood out, offering a wonderful combination of flavors.
Overall, my visit to Geonbae Sojubar was a flavorful journey through Korean cuisine, with options to please a variety of palates. The vibrant ambiance added to the experience, making it a must-try spot for Korean food...
Read moreSitting at the high tables (especially the ones close to the bar) here have a special place in my heart, I don't know. It is a place that kinda cures my bad days and I think it's not just the fact that their beer is pleasantly ice-cold (I mean difficult-to-hold level of ice!).
The staff is the sweetest, always.
As for the menu and food, well, first of all, you have everything. Do you want to keep it light and fresh? Get the kimbap with the usual Korean sides! You wanna go for a warming and filling dish? You have bibimbap. You wanna indulge in your selection of meat? Fried chicken and BBQ is there for you. Although, well, when it's this diverse, as it's the case the with every kitchen, taste is a bit compromised. My only other final complaint would be that the menu is heavier on the streetfood but it's literally a soju bar! So if you are planning for dinner plan it with...
Read moreThis is not authentic Korean food, but an imitation that misses the point on multiple aspects. The one thing that was allright was the tteokpokki. Sundubu jjigae was served warm, but not boiling as it should. The rice was not sticky, but dry. The bibimbap was also lukewarm, even though it came with a war ing that it would be hot. The gimbap had a sour taste (sushi seasoning?) and was served with soy sauce(?!). The beef in all dishes was chewy, and the fried chicken as well. Corndogs looked and tasted like they came out of a bag. None of the dishes was remotely close to any expectations a Korean person or someone who has had Korean food before would have upon stepping into a restaurant. We chose this place because of the good reviews, but they do not reflect our experience at all. Service was average and fairly kind, atmosphere medium. Nothing to write home about,...
