It was brilliant. I am a real foodie and this was the best meal I've had this year. We walked passed the day before and the menu was so interesting we had to try it - in particular the gulab jamun cheesecake (gulab jamun is one of my favourite desserts so this really caught my eye). They did not disappoint.
Food: As a starter, we had the chicken tikka which was so nice and tender but also had a beautiful smokey flavour. They gave us a minty creamy and a smokey (paprika?) chutney that paired so well witht the chicken.
Then we shared a chicken vindaloo which was the best vindaloo I've had. We were warned it was spicy but they said they could adjust the spice level to our liking. We are accustomed to spice so we didn't think that was necessary. It was spicy, I'll admit it, but it was a good burn. If this dish makes you sweat, trust me, it is worth it.
The main star of the show was the 22G's braised lamb shank Nihari. This is a must-have!! It was so beautifully tender, we didn't even need a knife to take the meat off the bone. The sauce was rich and deep with a tiny bit of spice, which complemented the lamb so well. It was also served with curried potatoes (and cauliflower) which had me completely stumped because despite being nice and soft (but not mushy), it also had a roasted flavour to it. This dish was so amazing, it's genuinely a contender for my last meal on earth hahaha.
For dessert we had some masala chai with the Gulab Jamun cheesecake as well as the Rasmalai (it was served in a glass as you can see in the pictures). I came for the gulab jamun which was fantastic, but the Ramalai stole my heart with the cardomom and saffron sweet milky flavour. It was brilliant, and has become my new favourite thing.
And ofc we had their mango lassi (a lot of it lol) which is a classic.
Atmosphere & service: The atmosphere as you can see was just perfect and we were very comfortable there. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the service was amazing. Specifically the son of the mastermind of the lamb shank dish was brilliant. He really took care of us and was very kind. But all the servers were excellent!
Conclusion: We loved it here and will definitely come back. In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in the Netherlands (and I have tried really quite a few), and if not, at least one of the best restaurants in The Hague. Thank you for a...
Read moreWe had dinner here last night here at Indian by Nature. Sharing our experience.
Location : walking distance from city center.
Staff : there were two members . Both of them very friendly yet professional. Very prompt in taking our requests.
Ambience : very classy. Traditional yet modern
Food: Papdi chaat - it cannot get more authentic than this. Perfect mix of the flavours. Will take you back to the streets of Dehli.
Masala aam ras- i was a bit sceptical since this was the first time i saw this in a European menu. But i was pleasantly surprised. Not the usual run of the mill. But nice drink.
Mango Lassi - I would not say it is the best lassi I had in Europe. But it was nice. Thick and flavourful.
MIx grill non veg platter - Chicken tikka and tandoori chicken ; Marination was good. But the meat itself was hard, dry inside. It was okish. Lamb seekh: was nice . The usual standard what you would expect. Tawa fish and tandoori prawn: the standout items in this platter. Excellent taste. Perfectly marinated. Being located close to the coast makes sea food very fresh in this case. I would order these two items as standalone next time.
Veg Biryani- for me a true test of an Indian restaurant is measured through how good the biryani is. I have eaten in lot of restaurants good chicken / mutton biryani across India and Europe. But making a good veg biryani is different ball game all together. I have immense respect for any restaurant that gives equal importance to veg and non veg biryani. Indian by Nature is one such shinning star in the galaxy of veg biryani. Vegetables were perfectly cooked and mixed with rice giving a mindblowing end result. While eating you will understand that a lot of effort has gone in to making this dish. Not many restaurants in my experience do this. There are only three other restaurants in europe that I have eaten that match this level of taste.in veg biryani.
We had a chance to speak to the head Chef Anil Semwal who is from Delhi. He told us that all the members in kitchen are from India who know their craft well. That makes a difference.
Absolute must try restaurant when...
Read moreWow, what an amazing Indian dinner on my wife’s birthday in lovely downtown The Hague in the Netherlands. Having dinner first and then a concert at Amare theatre. It’s only a short walk to the theatre and also a short walk to Den Haag Central Station (NS). It started with a friendly welcome by a polite and charismatic Canadian young man and our waitress Natalja (Ukrainian/Chinese) was outstanding. We started with an order of the Samosa appetizer and the Paani Poori. Both absolutely delicious! My wife ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala and I had the Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi. Again both delicious! The ambiance was fantastic and relaxed, and it was fun to be part of this diverse and International crowd. Several Indian visitors were having dinner there as well, and its sounds corny and cliche, but that is always a good sign for a restaurant. Desserts were simple but nice and tasty. We had a traditional Dame Blanche and an Indian style cheese cake. Oh, and I almost forgot about their Naan bread, we had the Pashawari and the garlic version. I highly recommend this restaurant. Maybe my 5 stars will push their rating from 4.9 to 5! However, Google am I allowed to give 6 stars?...
